10/14: Star’s Jingle Jam lineup includes David Archuleta, Gavin DeGraw

Star 94’s 2008 edition of the Jingle Jam features yet another “American Idol” finalist (David Archuleta), plus a couple of recycled acts from past Jingle Jams (Colbie Caillat, Gavin DeGraw-right).

The show is December 17 at Gwinnett Arena. Tickets go on sale this Saturday at Ticketmaster. In recent years, it has sold out. Tix range from $27 to $57.

I can’t say this is their strongest lineup yet by any stretch of the imagination. Last year had the buzz of the Jonas Brothers. Archuleta might be able to jimmy up at least some of that enthusiasm.

Based on the order of the acts listed in the press release, the first up will be We the Kings, a pop group from Florida with one minor hit “Check Yes Juliet.” Next will be Archuleta (right), the “Idol” runner up who has a top 15 hit with “Crush.” Then it’s Flyleaf, a rock band from Texas whose song “I’m So Sick” is on Rock Band but would hardly be called a huge hit. Colbie Caillat appeared a year ago and has a couple of hits (“Bubbly,” “Realize”) but is hardly defined as a breakout star. So that leaves Gavin DeGraw (“I Don’t Want To Be,” “In Love With a Girl”) as the headliner. He too has had a couple of decent-sized hits but isn’t nearly as big as Avril Lavigne (last year’s headliner) or Goo Goo Dolls (2006’s headliner.)

My favorite lineup was 2003, which included Maroon 5, Sarah McLachlan, Jessica Simpson and Barenaked Ladies.

2004: Duran Duran

2004: Jason Mraz, Switchfoot, Gavin DeGraw,Howie Day and James Blunt.

2006: Hinder, the Fray, K.T. Tunstall, Goo Goo Dolls

2007: Elliott Yamin, Colbie Caillat, Jonas Brothers, Avril Lavigne

So what do you think of the 2008 edition? Are you excited?
