Let’s not jump to conclusions. There has been no reason given for her departure. You don’t know whose choice it was. Porche is a classy person who can go to any station in any city and be successful. As far as her “drug habit,” if she really had one, it would be all over the news.

I did not like her the first time and did not tune in the second time V-103 hired her. She helped me to discover Warren Ballentine just to avoid listening to her….I hope Frank Ski leaves next! Hate him too. Ryan Cameron is he only reason I even tune in to that station.

Frank Ski’s inspirational vitamin comes directly from the Daily Bread that is published by RBC Ministries. I have not really listened to V103 in years, especially when they brought on Ryan Cameron (I’m sorry he is not funny at all) All you have to do is turn the dial, NPR, 102.5, and other options.

For people to not like V103 and their DJ’s, they are certainly able to give detail descriptions of the shows.

sorry people but i have to agree with bx boy- yes there is more opportunity here and the weather is much nicer than new york. but what i think the issue is - is that people from other cities are used to culture and much more diversity in a city. yes-they can come off a little rude about it. but i understand why. in 2008 atlanta does seem to be behind the rest of the country as far as racial tolerance and mixture of culture. atlanta radio does nothing to help this. especially for v103. some of the comments and things i have heard shocked and disappointed me. i think the air personalities often forget that a wide range of people may be listening. the station does seems to think only one set of people listen to urban music. i once had the radio on at the job and we had to turn the station from v103 because they were so offensive. shouting, name calling and racial slurs should not be accepted but seem to be celebrated by this station. once you have lived in other cities you become very aware of the issues atlanta still faces. im sure native southerners may not fully see the point that quite a few new yawkers have, but they mean no harm. they simply want to see atlanta improve in a few areas. can we? yes we can.

Now we have a choice..yes most of the comments are true about Atlanta radio…but I think we got away from the subject…Porche Foxx…and my comment is that I have nor a positive or negative reaction to her leaving the radio station.

I started listening to V-103 in 1978 when I was in the 8th grade, so yes I have been listening a LONG time. They used to be very cool and you can hear them all the way to Alabama. Now I only listen if they are giving away something I want to win. They have sucked for a while now, can’t stand Wanda, Ryan and Elle. I did like Porsche, I felt she was the one with the least ego of all the personalities. They really do need to get off the negativity crap they are always spewing. My favorite dj’s are Si-man 102.5, which I can’t pick up now that I live in the suburbs, and Youngblood 7am-noon on Saturdays on 104.1, which is also not easy to pick up at home. They are definately worth a listen.

While Dr. W makes a decent post, he/she certainly must not have a good grasp on history. It could be said that the entire SOUTH is behind in “racial tolerance and mixture of culture.” There are a few MAJOR reasons why. The trickle down effects of events/practices of that magnitude don’t disappear overnight.

I feel like a lot of posters on the board though, if you’re an adult who has freedom of choice in where to live, AND you don’t care for Atlanta… KEEP IT MOVING.

If you know anything about migration statistics, you’ll realize many people find it a very attractive place.

Living in a place you loathe while calling OTHER people losers? Priceless.

I stopped listening to them when they put that Cross Dresser on the air. That was the final straw to me. I couldn’t take anymore of Frank’s talking out of both sides of his mouth. First he will play and promote music that degrades our own people and then he’s preaching his Inspirational Vitamin. GTF out of hear with that crap. V103 is a HUGE reason our black peopled are so F’d up right now. I listen to XM radio now and won’t look back.

I also got tired of Christianity being shoved on me when I know some of those same clowns are probably hypocrites. V 103 is stuck in the past and washed up, I would recommend Satellite radio

Porsha Foxx show wasn’t the best, it was ok. I didn’t like her show before and I didn’t like it when she came back to the airwaves. I tried to give it a chance though. The only thing I truly didn’t like about Porsha Foxx was she would be the first one to gossip and put everybody else’s business out in the street…”you heard it first from me, Porsha Foxx”. But yet, when she got into her trouble, she didn’t want to discuss it and when asked about it, all she’d say was “it was a lesson learned and God has blessed me for me to be able to move forward.” She was the first to say how the media didn’t report things correctly in her situation but yet she wouldn’t elaborate on her situation when asked. So, I lost respect for her because even after her situation and after she came back to the airwaves, she was still putting people’s business out in the street.

Since I moved here (from the Midwest) in 1988, NEW YORKERS have been complaining about Atlanta..so I say now what I said then…GO THE HELL BACK..DIDN’T NOBODY ASK YOU TO COME HERE. And having just recently moved back to ATL from MIA, everybody don’t speak Spanish. It may be diverse but everybody still hates everybody else of different nationalities. Cubans run Miami, Dominicans, don’t like Puerto Ricans, who don’t like Brazilians, who don’t like Columbians, etc, etc. And lets not talk about the Hatians and Jamaicans. American black people are non-existent in S. Florida.

I will truly miss Porsche Foxx. She was a breathe of fresh air. I loved her motto and the interviews with the celebrities - she always asked questions that ran through my mind. I appreciate her generosity to many of the Metro Atlanta Communities. She impacted me & so many others in very positive ways and I would like to just say Thank you to Porsche. I love her and will miss her up-beat personality very much!!

I thought it was me and Atlanta radio. When I travel to other cities their music is diverse and I hear songs that are never played on Atlanta radio, specifically v-103. The same old songs every 15 minutes is tiring. When Frank Ski has something to say he should get someone to research his topics. He called John Lewis—United States Republican John Lewis because he thought U.S. Rep. meant republican. What a joke. He uses words out of context and really needs to verse himself on current events before he takes on the task of educating his listeners. His listeners have been dumbed down and maybe the station owners want that to happen. V-103 listeners were the ones that had to be convinced to go vote. Now, they think there is an election only every four years. It is sad. He hasn’t even said anything about the run-off. What a shame. His listeners should go down the road, maybe Macon and they will hear better music. I stopped listening—because Frank Ski is a hypocrite. I go to New York and I am in awe of the stations and the music that I haven’t heard here in Atlanta. I feel like I am in Los Angeles in the late 70s and early 80’s when it took about a year for them to get a new song.

Dee, I’m not sure where you lived or frequented in Miami but there are “American black” people in Miami. There are predominately black communities in Miami - Cutler Ridge, Richmond Heights, Carol City, Liberty City, Perrine, Coral Gables, etc. These communities have been around for decades. You are correct about the various Latino groups at odds with one another but your assertion there are not any American-born black people in South Florida is inaccurate.

Also, I am an American-born black person born & raised in Miami. Most of my immediate family members reside in Miami.

Its too much fun taking over this little city. Its waaay to easy. You bumpkins wouldnt know oppourtunity unless it came free with your sweet tea at the Varsity.

We know how to get business done.

We dont close car washes at 6pm…we hire a second night shift to take over. We dont close restaurants on sunday to “worship” (really means…to watch TV all day) We dont think Friday is a mandatory half day. We dont park our cars close as possible to the front door of stores while the rest of the 2 acre parking lot is empty because we are scared to walk more than 20 feet. We dont act like we can mouth off in road rage …but say nothing face to face.

We know the true value of land and investing. We know that we are now in the 21st century and this city is stuck in 1979. So just shut up…drink your tea, and watch us work.

i’m 28 and i’ve lived in atlanta my whole life so i’m pretty familiar with the radio stations here. first off, v103’s morning show hasn’t been good since mike & carol. i met mike roberts a while back and i BEGGED him to go back to v103 since frank and wanda make black people look so bad. i agree, they do try to shove christianity down the listener’s throats. i’m not a christian, i don’t want to hear it. i feel that people can do what they want, but having a cross-dresser on in the morning when young children are listening just isn’t right. and frankly, they could get a way better tranny to do the show than sophia. they can’t do a transexual that’s articulate and intelligent? how hard is that? as far as porsha, i liked her a lot more the second time around. i’ve seen her in the clubs in her earlier days and she was tossing the drinks back. i can’t speak for her the second time around though. she really did care about people, but she obviously dealt with demons, just like many people. prayers to her. she did have a bit of an ego, but she was cool at the end of the day. i get really sick of white people getting on here talking trash about blacks. when there is a message board that talks about white atlantans we don’t get on here and call them honkeys or ignorant hicks. so why is it that white people get on her everytime someone black is mentioned and clown us. why not give the same respect that you are given. frankly, most blacks have too much time on their hands to be doing that.

Ok I’m from Atlanta and just moved back from brooklyn where I stayed for 6 years. Listened to hot 97 and 105.1 it’s the same BS they play mostly music from the south. Miss jones and Ed lover when she was there kept up more BS than anyone. All this coon radio you NYers are throwing out is some stupid. You obviously need to go home and you will see why you left. NY is just old blacks have no oppertunity there and everyone that I encountered when I stayed in NY wish they can move to Atlanta and say most of there relatives who stay in Atlanta love it. I find most of these comments entertaining in a sad kind of way. I used to live in Atlanta and I miss it. I never complained about it being slow, my complaints were mainly about the institutionalized racism and discrimination that seems to be accepted in this city. I Pay for XM radio & IT’S WORTH EVERY CENT!!!! i’ve live up North & South & both i would rate the same to much talking & same music every few minutes which is annoying. Cherry is quite possibly the worst publicist ever. Definitely in the city! Quite disturbed. She takes it upon herself to issue releases with herself as the media contact for clients that she has nothing to do with. Very strange. She is seriously crazy and should be in counseling or medicated or something, so I would just erase whatever impression she gives you Rodney. As for Porsche, not sure what this is about. She was no where to be found the other week when her show went on from what I heard and Wanda had to sub for a minute, maybe that’s when this was coming. I wish her the best. I’ve always found her to be accessible, friendly, easy-going, etc. Don’t know what to tell you about that.

AL, V103’s numbers have never been below 97.5’s or 107.9, do your research. The only stations in this city that have ever had morning numbers higher than WVEE’s are WSB AM and FM. WVEE has had a strangle hold on the number one spot for years, and that is a situation that is unlikey to change.

Furthermore, Ski is not the program director, it’s not his place to decide who he will and won’t play. WVEE added more rap and hip hop to it’s schedule, but that’s mainly due to the fact that with so many other stations popping up, the management decided that V’s play list didn’t need to be so diverse. As far as Ski being friends with rappers, given his background in rap and as a dj, his actions aren’t surprising.

As far as Porsche Foxx goes, when you live by a messed up motto like “letting your haters be your motivators” you are bound to reap a lot of negativity. Your family and friends should motivate you, not people who don’t have your best interests at heart. Family and friends should be your focus, you should never let people who want to hurt you have so much control over your mind and actions. You should know who is important in your life, and always let them know that they are important, and that they come first. Only a fool would place “haters” above those that they love.

V-103 in general is behind the times. The offer very little in substance, and are nothing more than a culprit in the decline black culture in black America. Frank Ski reading the scripture of the day in the morning, and is in Esso or the Velvet Room talking drunk on the radio at 2 am. Mr. 100 Black Men, yeah right. Ryan is the only reason I halfway listen to this station, and I will lend Michael Baisden my ear even more than Ryan now. Look at the lineup 102.5 has. All races listen to R&B and Hip-Hop, and all Frank, Wanda, and the he-she talk about is how blacks are being held down, along with the same 10 songs that’ll get played all day. You could listen to 102, and almost never hear the same song twice in a day. V-103 should stop thinking all their listeners aren’t intelligent, and get a new lineup. First of all…these blogs just represent what has held us back as black people for hundreds of years. It baffles me how we have no problem tearing each other down in a public forum. Whether it is Porshe Fox, Frank Ski, northerners or southerners…we are all black. I am originally from NJ and when I am in NY, I respect NY and what it represents. I live in Atlanta and have been here most of my life and I respect what it represents as well. In all honesty, most black people from NY and NJ move to the south for a better opportunity and the ATL has a lot of successful and progressive black people. Unfortunatly, NY and NJ lacks this. I think northerners become disgruntled when they move to the south because they feel out of their element;they are now dealing with black people who are educated and actually trying to move forward. If we(black people) cared about each other as much we hate each other, we would be unstoppable.

Just a little side bit…On my recent visits to the NYC…HOT 97 played 90% of artist that were from the ATL. The ATL represents in the NYC big time!!!

On another note, a few years back, I had the opportunity to stop by the V-103 offices and I was shocked to see only one black person around, and she was the receptionist. Everyone else I saw was white. Keep that in mind when you’re criticizing the on-air “talent”.

Well, I am a NATIVE Atlantan and radio has sucked for years. I grew up on WIGO and WAOK AM stations when they were still doing SOUL music. V103 has always sucked…..it just sucks MORE now. 91.9fm WCLK and 107.5 are the only stations I really listen to and some of the spanish stations.

I’m from NYC, and the prejudice cuts both ways. Why assume just because I say I’m from NYC, that I’m loud, aggressive, abrasive or any other NYC stereotype. I don’t think I’m slick. My house was robbed by three men from Atlanta. In NYC, I didn’t live in the projects and I don’t drive an SUV in Atlanta. So let’s be clear. SH.I.TTY people come in all colors, sizes and shapes and are living all 50 states of this union. But I do agree, though, that if this is the city you CHOSE to live in, then you either love it, leave it or keep the negatives to yourselves. But remember, the prejudice cuts both ways. Dr. W, You said a mouthful. I liked Ms. Foxx. As far as V-103 went, I can tolerate it. But I had a big problem with the he/she on the monrning show. I am not against gays, I know too many and love them to death. It is the way they present Ms.Sophia on the radio and out in public at For sister’s only. When I moved to ATL 15 years ago, V-103 was THE station for R&B. As a white guy though I always resented them calling themselves the “people’s station.” If they were just honest and called themselves the BLACK people’s station that would be one thing. Other posters are right when they say the station is ignorant of the fact or doesn’t care that plenty of “crackers” used to love the station but got tired of being ignored during their “talk radio” segments.

As for Porsche, I lost respect the instant she was arrested and denied the charges. Like it was a conspiracy, can’t remember if she played the race card, but sure as hell didn’t take responsibility for her mistakes (which we all make sometimes.) I disagree with much of what Frank-Ski and others have to say but, I have sense enough to know that sometimes they are trying to reach another audience, they are trying to inspire those who may need some inspiration and educate some of enlighten some of those who may need to be enlighten. From some of your post I think it is safe for me to make the assumption that if you are blessed you do nothing to up-lift your less fortunate brothers and sisters. The black race is the only race in this country that scramble for crumbs like roaches and then have the attitude of “I got mine, I don’t care if you get yours”. A little advice to you the truely priviledged see you as one of those slave mentallity people that you are degrading. I don’t care if you moved here from NYC or anywhere from up north. We are only about 4 or 5 generations removed from slavery and those slave mentallity people you refer to help pave the way and supported your parents or grandparents to help them acheive their dreams and reach their goals. I am a transplant from Texas. I LOVE THE A. I don’t listen to 103.3 much, because I am working two jobs. There are many stations out there for any taste. If you choose not to listen to one, then excercise your right to choose and turn the dial, push the button, etc. Disparaging Porsche, the station, Atlanta is not going to solve anything. And as far as New York goes, I have never been there (no desire too, I am strictly a Southern girl (GRITS-girls raised in the South-all the way baby) but I have traveled to Baltimore, DC etc. Every city has its challenges. Northerners in general and New Yorkers in particular can be harsh, rude, arrogant and obnoxious. We in the South find this intolerable and confusing. We are raised to be ladies and gentlemen and grow old gracefully, while having a great time at living. We are taught to live within our means and be respectful of one another, whether we demonstrate these traits or not. So, in defense of Atlanta and the South, I agree LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. And as far as New Yorkers go, “Please either adjust your set, or turn off your radio completely.” I find your habits reprehensible and your arrogant attitude insulting. I am in awe of the fact that you have so little academic prowess to hail from such a large multi-cultural metropolitan. I am proud to represent the South and I do hope that any of the words or cliches that I have used do not challenge or confuse you to the point of frustration. Sign me (LOVIN ME SOME ATL)

By dr. w. I understand your point, but I need you to understand this. I am from South GA, moved to Atlanta 10 years ago for a better job. I have spent time in Europe, and Southwest Asia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The U.A.E was a strict muslim country and then they found oil and have new money. When they discovered the oil would soon run out they became more tolerent to certain things to attract people to their area so they can continue to make money through tourism and other business avenues. The Europeans and Africans and Middle Eastern people who have moved there for better opportunities have brought along with them their own culture. We in Geogia have no problem with you bringing your own sense of culture down south with you. Hell, Frank-Ski had those nothern exposure nights in the clubs for you transplants. If you want to see people of others races and different backgrounds than your own then travel outside of 285. You may not be welcomed in the establihments but its on you to trie to hang with them. Don’t blame a local ATLien for that. If you want to hear other types of music and see differnt types of stage shows they have that around the metro area look for it. Hell, in Gwinnett they are having a Neil Diamond concert next money if your money is green they don’t care what color you are you can attend. Down her we work hard and party harder then and sunday we pray for forgiveness that is what we do. If anyone disagree with that then they have the right to do so. But, it is what it is. Just because a few of you have attended a Farrakhan rally and became inspired don’t call the rest of us ignorant because we chose to believe in Jesus and opt to live our lives the way your grandparents were raised because they were once “Kuntry People” also. You can learn alot from those people. That culture that you seek may not be the culture that you need. The culture that you shun may be the culture that you should embrace.

WOW! Looks like Porche leaving V has sparked some interesting dialogue. First, I would like to get some history straight. Majority of the blacks in the North migrated during the late 50’s early 60’s from the South. All of you northerners - check your history. Your people are from the South also. Geez! If you watch the video link you would think Frank Ski was introducing the Pope or Jesus Christ! I tried to listen to her when I first moved down here, but all she did was blab (like all the DJ’s at V 103) and would every once in a while play music. I really don’t get the cliquish behaivor down here either. Maybe it is because the South was so segregated. Even in the blogs it’s like an us vs. them, North vs. South, Black vs. White thing going on. I love living here, but it isn’t hard to see why the rest of the nation sees us as the butt of jokes!

It certainly didn’t take long to feel “unwelcomed.” If a group of white people talked like that on the radio about black people, all hell would break loose (can you say Don Imus???). It’s really sad, because my children are bi-racial and they LOVE R&B music (I listen to any and everything), but I won’t let them listen to V-103 because of the racist comments they make. If we are scanning the dial and a good song is on, we’ll stop and listen, but as soon as the song is off, we change the station. All I can say is “SIRIUS”

As I indicated in a previous blog, I am originally from NJ and that state has nothing to offer. I love NY but it is not a city for black people to thrive and get ahead. For a city to be so culturally diverse, I barely saw any blacks dining in the nice restaurants or in living on Park Avenue in Manhattan. Unless you are in the entertainment business, you might as well forget it. The racism up north is worse because it hides behind nice Armani suits in corporate america. Racism in the south is different because it’s in your face and the enemy let’s you know where he is coming from…I prefer that.

Also, I know we northerners think we are so wordly and diverse but going to Russell Simmons Def Comedy Jam and Showtime At the Apollo is not culture.

First off V-103 & Hotlanta (soon to go cold) radio is trash!!!! I worked for V-103 and all the on-air personalities there think they are god’s gift to the world and Reggie the (The worst Program Director in the USA) thinks he owns the world. But check this out Reggie is from New York!!!! My fellow New Yorkers are saying damn man why did you give them one up…. nope its not one up for them. Reggie has to play the music and conduct the station the way the people of the city want to hear it and since all the people from New York Don’t listen then BOOM it’s the Idiotic people of Atlanta (all Atlanta people are not idiots) who make the station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They wanna hear Frank and his stupid topics because he speaks better english then 90% of the Atlanta born people so they assume he is smart! Why is Atlanta 100 times more affordable then New York but for some odd reason all those people on camp creek and the east side zone 1 2 3 4 whatever you call can’t afford to stay in their 80k 90k 100k 150k homes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! makes you say hmmmmm……….. Our foreclosures, crime rate, black men gay rate ( I made that up) is all well below Atlanta!!! Oh and what good is having a black mayor and she can’t run the city!!!! It’s broke!!!! She can’t fix the highways or the cities water problems. There’s always some POLITICALLY BLACK MAN who’s standing by to hammer you w/ the race card. Young black men (and some white) emmulate (sp?) the violence in rap music so instead of being DOCTORS and LAWYERS, they wanna sling dope and get there quick.

Screw graduating LIKE WE DID IT. There are so many ways to get a diploma NOW that you don’t HAVE to know how to read on a 10th grade level.

I no longer live in Atlanta but I do recall being stuck in Freaknik many years ago with 2 white girls not knowing if we were gonna get shot or what by simply minding our own biz headed to see a college band at the 3 leveled club in Poncey Highlands area. I felt discriminated against many many times for simply being a white male (should I call myself a Irish American) while living in Atlanta. I found it hard to NOT become somewhat racist after experiencing SO much reverse discrimination. First of all I think you are taking what I say too literally. I know that there isn’t a city that’s made specifically for black people and I will leave it at that. I noticed that you only referenced comments I made in regards to frivolous things such as the Cheesecake Factory or Freaknik. It really doesn’t matter to me where you dine, work, or the reason why you came here. You didn’t mention that I talked about networking?? I came here as a child and was raised here…so of course I would have more of a personal bond with this city than others who moved here as adults. I personally will miss Porsche I think she sent a lot of positive messages through her show. People are truly entitled to their opinions however no matter how much we would like to think we live in a perfect world we do not. How this whole subject about a radio personality turned into something racial I do not understand. One thing is clear that ignorance will be the death of our world. There will always be some form of hate whether it is economic status or race it is something ugly. I question often how people who took this land unlawfully feel a strong sense of entitlement of pronouncing it theirs baffles me. You poor mislead people on all sides of the hate world. DROP IT! I didn’t really care 4 her show much and I been in ATL 3 years now. When she started to come on I listened but after a while up until now I would cut the radio off after frank and wanda and can’t wait for Ryan Cameron to come on. She wasted to much time on bad energy. Always talking about someone else and try to dig into negative dirt B4 looking at herself and bettering herself. And I hated that phrase Make your haters… If you have haters at this age ma, you need to revaluate you surrounding and life situations. That phrase should be for high school. It’s not ALLEGEDLY your in trouble/court as she would say for herself but talk down about other people. Bye porsha, clean up your act.

I really loved your show Porsha Foxx. You have a great sprit I hope the best for you. Porsha and Ryan Cameron are the best shows on v-103. Frank and Wanda are okay but Frank is a hyprocrite and they do play the same 10 songs over and over again, however that is not only a problem in Atlanta they do the same thing in Chicago, LA, and New York. but thats why people have ipods and if you want variety listen to more than one radio station.
