The best cold coffee drink is the Granita at PJ’s Coffee! It’s perfect for those hot summer days. It hits the spot just right.

The best cold coffee drink is at my house! I blend up strong leftover coffee with some Splenda, evaporated milk and ice and it’s a deliciously frothy drink. Sometimes I even add some chocolate or vanilla.

Cafe Fredo served just outside the Ufuzi Musem in Florence, Italy.

A double shot of expresso and a healthy sized spoon of sugar, shaken with ice, drained and served in a tall thin glass. Molto Bella!

Dunkin’ Donuts has the best. And they are advertised all over Atlanta. But there aren’t enough Dunkin Donuts around—I have no idea where the closest one is.

McDonald’s Vanilla Iced Coffee is super! I tried it in my quest to find MY perfect coffee order and was so pleased that it was the right amount of coffee and cream and sugar. To top it all off, it’s only $1.69. You definitely can’t get that price at any of the big coffee chains!

I will agree. McDonald’s has a very good cold coffee drink. I think it is a well kept secret. Try the hazelnut flavor there!

The best cold coffee drink hands down is a Mocha Frappachino from Starbucks. It hits the spot everytime. Add a little lite whipped cream and a squeeze of chocolate syrup and I am set to go.

McDonald’s iced coffee is totally watery. Dunkin’ Donuts has the best iced coffee around. After that it’s the iced coffee you get at any Vietnamese restaurant served with condensed milk. Yum!

Aurora is very good!

Java Monkey is, too. Someone once said San Fran Coffee on Highland is also good.

I personally prefer to make my own with a toddy maker and a pound of Community Coffee Dark Roast….

Starbucks doesn’t make good iced coffee. They make a good frozen coffee-like drink, if you like really sweet stuff.

I haven’t heard the word granita since college! There used to be a junky place in my college town of Lafayette, LA called Cafe 101 that sat in a burnt out building across from the college. They made good granitas.

PJs is originally out of NOLA and when I was in college (same school as above) they had one in Lafayette and they had them in Baton Rouge, too. I don’t remember if I ever had their granitas, though.

I was very pleased to see the one in Atlantic Station.

Oh, the difference between a granita and the frozen coffee that Starbucks and other like it make? Well, a granita is traditionally just a frozen beverage originally from Italy. But a coffee granita is simply a coffee that’s been frozen. It’s not smooth like a milkshake. It’s grainy with ice crystals. It’s usually not pre-sweetened (though I guess it can be). It’s basic ingredients are coffee, milk, and cream.

The stuff that Starbucks makes I think comes from a powdered mix with maybe some real coffee thrown in. It’s much smoother and usually extremely sweet.

Zgirl:

I tried Dunkin Donuts iced coffee and wasn’t that impressed. All of them don’t make it right. So, it maybe it’s not Dunkin Donuts in general but the one you frequent?!? What’s the location?

The best iced coffee I’ve had is the Starbucks located in the Kroger on Sams Crossing in Decatur. Excellent every time. Still open for someone who can do it better though.

Ben & Jerry’s in Alpharetta or Johns Creek. They make “cappachillo coolers” You can choose any 1 of 36 flavors and they blend it with coffe, milk, and ice. They are DELICIOUS!!!! They also have created a menu of chillos for you to choose from, check them out.

Caramel Frapuccino at Starbucks. I can taste it now! Other votes are believe it or not, Quik Trip frozen (for the money:). Also, San Francisco Coffee Co. in the Highlands also has a great frozen coffee. Keep cool!

Aurora Coffee has the best iced coffee. Period. And their iced espresso drinks can’t be beat. My favorite is a tall soy latte made by Tommy over at the L5P location. My sister likes the iced mocha. It’s all sooooo good!

McDonand’s is good if you want all of that cream and sugar. I asked if I could have it black and the response is “no”. I’m sticking with Dunkin.

Mocha-choca-latte-mama! if you have not noticed, it friggin hot out. I’ll be back to the hot stuff in the fall.

the mcdonald’s vanilla iced coffee is outstanding if you like your coffee with cream and sugar and not brewed strong. it’s exactly the way i like my coffee and tastes great on ice. and the price is kick a$$. i’ve never stepped foot in a starbucks and probably never will. it’s the same stuff with a higher price tag and a cooler cup with a wrapper.

Dunkin Donuts has the best ice coffee. I am from RI and I have always remembered having iced coffee throughout the entire summer. They offer many other flavors that most companies don’t offer.

Caribou Coffee has a great Cold Press iced coffee. It’s not hot coffee over ice- it’s steeped in cold water for up to 12 hours to take the acidity away from the bean. It’s a really unique way to do it and super tasty.

QT - 32 oz for 89 cents! Frozen cappuccino with a little frozen steamer mixed in then add your choice of flavor shots at no extra charge - 5 shots of chocolate flavoring does it for me but my husband prefers the amaretto.

I work at a place in Kirkwood called Gathering Grounds (gatheringgroundskirkwood.com) and we make a great iced latte. We put a little bit of foamed milk on top of a couple shots of espresso over ice and milk (soy for no extra charge!) and it’s dang good. Come by this weekend and check it out!
