Crowd slow to grow
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The first Vibe MusicFest started out looking like a potential disaster Friday night. When the scheduled 6 p.m. start time rolled around, the Georgia Dome felt like an empty airplane hangar.
Host Doug E. Fresh acknowledged as much from the stage, but kept a positive attitude about the late-comers he belived would arrive. “The place is gonna fill up,” he said. “But you know how we do: If the show starts at 6, we’re gonna be here at 8.”
Fans did eventually show up, but a lot of empty seats remained. Too bad, too the talent was strong, and the sound, while imperfect, was better than might have been expected in the cavernous Dome. The atmosphere in the seats and on the concourse was festive.

6pm is very early to start a show on a Friday night especially when most people don’t get off until 5 or 6pm. But if the show had started any later we would have been in the dome until 2AM.

If they have it again next year DON’T have it on the same weekend as the Midtown Music Festival. And when u found out that the best act “Mary J” isnt coming u need to replace her with someone thats on her same level. Cause I know people that were going to the concert just to see mary j…All in all it was a good show. On Friday just start after 7 instead of 6 and dont have it on the same weeekend as the Music Midtown and it will be ok

Now I am at fault for being late to the event, however if anyone knows about life in Atlanta. Planning an event that starts @ 6 is taboo!! Everybody gets off early on fridays so hey traffic is horrible from 1 - 8!! People coming to or thru atlanta, people getting home to families, barbershops or hairstylist. Friday is just one of those days. Shoot at the prince concert folks were just getting there at 9. Atlanta has to step up their game if you want NY access. Having time deadlines and artist not showing up is getting old. Grow up promoters and get it right!!!!!

I was ver upset..No Mary J….I only bought my tickets to see Mary J. And to add insult to injury my seats were horrible..section 124 row 37 seat 104 and 103 except there is no row 37 only a section dedicated to the handicap with fold out chairs. Listen the place had enough seats that they didnot have to sell these seats..HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE!Ask me if I had a good time? No, No, I need a refund if you ask me just for those to reasons. John,Tommy,112, Doug E and lyfe were okay but, the main draw was not even on the bill the option for a refund should be offered.
