Touchy Subjects

Some women love to talk, (and talk, and talk some more) about everything that is going on, while most men are quite happy to embrace the silence is golden motto. Ideally, when you are in a relationship you want to be able to communicate openly and honestly, right?

What happens when you discover that your partner considers something too taboo to discuss? Maybe they clam up about something from their past or perhaps it’s family related. They could even be uneasy with bedroom talk, especially outside the bedroom.

A friend of mine is dating a guy who really really dislikes gratuitous talk about sex. When she insists on bringing it up, he gets slightly agitated and sort of shuts down. He just says that he doesn’t like talk about that - ever. She knows that when he acts all twitchy and uncomfortable, she is wasting her breath. How can she give feedback if he won’t discuss it? How can she let him know what she wants without hurting his ego or appearing too bossy?

How do you approach the sensitive topics with your date or significant other?

Are there times when it is better not to discuss certain topics?

Do you think that couples should be able to tell each other anything?

If there are touchy subjects that they don’t want to share, do you think that is a reflection on your relationship?

Is there anything you would feel uncomfortable discussing with someone you are dating or involved with?

good morning all!! hmmm…this is a touchy subject.:) i do think there is a fine line when questioning someone about their past. i don’t think it’s absolutely necessary to know every single detail of one’s past. my grandmother told me once that you never tell a man everything. i was a teenager at the time and didn’t quite get what she meant. but as i got older and started giving too much info…lol, i then began to understand what she was talking about. most people can’t take hearing details about past relationships. it has the potential to lead to insecurity and distrust. it’s best to leave irrelevant specifics alone since it has the potential to cause conflict.

Morning ALL Happy Friday

In GA.man’s absence, I’ve been appointed by him to carry out his normal duty of the Friday song.

Its Friday, Its Friday. It’s the end of the week it’s the last day. I’m going to get my passion party on, I’m going to get my drink on, I’m going to get my game on…all weekend long…

Happy Friday Everybody!!!!!!!

I think communication is HUGE!! I also think that the openness should grow as the relationship grows. In the beginning, no, I don’t think you should be tellin’ all yo business, but if you look up and it’s been years, and certain subjects are still a little touchy, then that could be a red flag. I’ve been there where the opposite happened, and I knew once the communication started to fade, the realtionship was pretty much over. I think timing is key (there’s a time and place for everything), but I would love to be with someone that I can pretty much talk about anything with, and I want him to feel the same way……like best friends.

GO BEARS!!!!!!!!

Don’t ask me about……..1)My Money 2)Details on past relationships; and 3)My “cookie meter”. I don’t need to know everything, and you don’t either. There’s a difference between being open, and being stupidly naive.

Also, don’t talk to me about any relationship stuff while I’m into the game. All topics not sports related will be touchy, and eventually ignored.

What up Blog: Wise There are touchy subjects all over the place, just depends who your talking with. Communication is a wonderful gift and curse.

I agree with Sexione, the communication should be more open as the relationship grows. I couldn’t imagine sharing my life for a long time with someone that constantly refused to be open with me. As partners, we should be able to communicate, as adults, in an open manner. I myself don’t have any problem with talking or being open about things unless it deals with a time when I was violated by a man, when it wasn’t consensual. Other than that talk on baby, talk on

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Wheeeew!!!!! I know it’s not funny but it made me laugh.

Sorry but I needed that laugh ‘cause I feel like crap today. I was up at 3am retching like a sick cat and have been awake ever since. I know I will not be doing any real work today, TGIF, so you all will have me for entertainment in hopes that I will start feeling better.

WiseDiva is your friend married to a 37yr old Health Food Store owner? LOL

But anyway on topic, when you are giving your body, yourself to someone you should be able to discuss any matter that is centered around that connection. Especially when you are looking to get the most out of the experiences you are sharing. I understand that something may have happened in your pass that really brought on some emotional pain but what better person to share this with than the one who has your heart. If the lines of communication aren’t open then how can the relationship grow?

In my relationship with my husband I am free to talk about any and everything. I can’t think of one thing right now that I would hesitate to tell him or ask him. I know people flinch at some of the stuff that I occasionally post here but that’s because the husband and I have already laughed about that situation. We can do that. Everything that you have seen me post is something that we both found to be humorous and it had no adverse effect on our relationship. Now there are things I wouldn’t dare reveal because they ARE too personal and intimate. But like I said if we laughed about together I have no problem talking about.

Sup Blog… TGIF…Good communication is key to any type of relationship….its part of getting to know each other..Since we proved earlier this week men and women often think differently.. it at times causes miscommunication..I like to know EVERYTHING..about females i date..but i already know women keep the deep dark secrets and take them to their grave. I have often been told..you know all this about me but you dont tell me nearly as much…Reason for that is simple..One..Women cant handle the truth…if we tell yall want we really thinking and answer all the crazy questions women ask at crazy times u wont understand and will be p**..Two…its in a womans nature to “know” her man..so she knows just how to act in certain situations…and after u are spill all your beans ala Sampson..you are usually in a prime position to get played…

Communication is a huge part of a relationship. Things build up too much if there isn’t any commmunication, then things explode when it all comes out, which it usually does in the end. Maybe there wouldn’t be an end if people talked about those things when they are relevant instead of bottling it up and waiting to bring everything out at at a single moment when the walls are crumbling around the relationship.

As for the guy that gets twitchy talking about sex, he should be ashamed. If he isn’t willing to find out what it takes to get the job done, then he doesn’t seem to interested in her needs. How can she give feedback if he doesn’t discuss it? “Don’t fake it”. If it hurts his ego to talk about what she needs, then that should do the trick if she shows that what he is doing doesn’t do the trick. Or maybe she should communicate about it during sex, then maybe he will feel compelled to listen, otherwise he probably want get his either.

Question to those who do this:

Why do you feel that your performance (Yeah I am talking to you Nature BOY wherever you are) is being scrutinized or judged when your partner offers some constructive input?

I mean come on, are you not interested in what it takes to please them?

You are not being compared to someone else it’s just that why should I take/accept what you are so poorly doing when I know there is a way to make it better.

WiseD What was the first sentence in your entry? Some women love to talk, (and talk, and talk some more)…. LOL

When I was with Whitebread that is when I learned about the freedom of sex and a whole lot of other stuff and was made very comfortable with my body and expressing my desires. Mind you he is 13 years older than I am so he had no reservations about talking about intimacy and by the time I was out of that relationship neither did I. Neither did I. We would be talking about something and would then say “Here let me show you.” LOL Looking back now I appreciate that little window of schooling because it taught me a lot about life in itself.

Wise Diva You know what? My SO only gets peeved when I talk about sex with other people. We talk about anything and everything together, but if I mention that I said anything to my friends about sex (especially my best guy friend), he has to ask how much I told them. And I don’t ever give details about that type of thing, so that’s not his worry. I guess it’s just a touchy subject for him if I discuss it with other people.

I am still feeling sick and this is just not the right weekend to be under the weather. My son turned 12 today and his father is having a party for him at his house tonight with some of his relatives and I have to (for my son) be there. Then I am allowing him to do something at our house tomorrow that some of his friends can come to. Then tomorrow evening I am going out with my friends to see a movie. And then I have to go to this SB party on Sunday. I think I feel another retching session coming on right about now. LOL

Happy Friday!!

Go Colts…Long live Peyton!!

This is an interesting topic and I would have to say that if you are dating then everything is not open season. It’s a hard pill to swallow because I think most females want to be under the illusion that there’s nothing we can’t talk about and share since we truly love and respect each other.

But I would like to believe that once you’re engaged/married that all is free game.

But if something makes the person uncomfortable…and it’s just not a matter of them thinking that you’re being nosy then I think you should respect that individual and not force it. It then boils down to compatibility…and if it’s not a good match based on communication mismatch…then there you have it!

Rated-R A lot of cats attach there self-esteem to their performance in the bedroom, and will be real sensitive about any criticism. It takes some sexperience to realize that letting her share some control might make the experience even better, I say some because you still must provide her with some “face in the pillow time” (sorry Wise) I probably would be a lil defensive myself, but I’ve never left a customer unsatisfied. Yes, we all know communication is key in a relationship and the inability or unwillingness for a partner to not share or discuss what is going in the relationship leads me to believe that he is not that into the relationship or he was raised not to discuss certain issues of a relationship or they would rather not spark a heated debate or arguement.

Slimone, sometimes I wonder if they outgrew each other or something. If you think about when they met and started working together, they were younger, had different goals, experiences, now even though they can produce good stuff together, they have varying/opposing views about a lot of things, and aren’t on the same page all the time.

By Jake

Kinder the rich boy remix.

Slimone As a proud Atlien, I will always defend Kast, they broke the South to the World. As for them, Artistic differences, I think Andre 3000 went through the change, wanted to try new stuff, Big Boi just maintained the groups true fanbase until the adventure was over. If you noticed, Dre’s back DJ Unk remix, Rich boy remix, Lloyd remix. Common denominator-Atlanta artists. The next Kast album will be that ish.

That’s all we have here from yours truly Jake “I tell you what’s hot” Koppel with your ATL music news, now sending it back to the studio with Musing.

Wise/Jake Yeah that’s the assumption I was making with the artistic differences. Dre is more into trying crazy out of this world things…it shows in his style of dress. Either way I’ll be true to them both. I love BB and D3000.

Thank you Jake for that insightful entertainment news. Would you happen to have any word on the alledged new couple Whitney and Ray J?

Years ago I dated a girl who was a virgin, who insisted on knowing the number of girls I had slept with previous to her. Like an idiot, I told her and she became fixated on that and wondered how I could care about her more than any of the other girls. Big mistake!

I realized I’m not telling and I’m not asking - because it doesn’t matter when it comes to the person you are currently with. I don’t want to know and it doesn’t affect my feelings for someone I’m with - I would care for them as an individual.

Wise & Sexione with that said about outgrowing someone…its a wonder that anyone stays together. Afterall, we are all individuals. So maybe that’s what the hard part is, we each have our own agendas and goals. I don’t know, just a thought.

In other entertainment news, the Ray J, formerly known as Brandy’s lil brother is attempted to increase his street cred by dating world reknown singer/crackstress Whitney Houston. My sources on the inside say its all a plot return Bobby “the king of R&B” Brown to superstar status. Sources say Ray J will be shot by Bobby, Bobby will go jail where he’ll write his new album to be released in Summer 2008. During the recovery/prison sentence Whitney will release her new album slated for Fall 2007, during the interim, Ray J will resume his role as Brandy’s lil brother while she is on trial for Vechicular Homicide. Death, Gunfights, Hospital Stays= Platinum Success

Depends on the length and extent of the relationship. Like me, I am married and my man gets closed up about his family. Okay well he admits his family is WRONG AS HELL about just about everything but when something comes up with them, (which is like weekly) He won’t discuss it. It’s very aggravating. Especially since I’m a call it as I see it type. I am polite out of respect but these people are jacked!

Producer, Reminds me of the SNL skit where they made fun Wilt Chamberlin and his 20,000+ women he was with. called “Remembrances of Love”

I found this blurb about it:

“One of my favorite “Saturday Night Live” skits had MC Hammer portraying Chamberlain as host of “Remembrances of Love, with Wilt Chamberlain,” a show on which each episode was devoted to one of the nearly 20,000 “special” women in his life.

The funniest part was listening to the hypothetical language of a man trying to come across as sincere as he courts one of the approximately 20,000 women with whom he supposedly had sex.

As “Saturday Night Live” chose to play it, Chamberlain sweet-talked each individual woman as if she was the only true love of his life.”

I remember this one conversation, they were discussing what happened at the high school dance. He said he was slow draggin with this girl and bust a nut. I had no idea what that meant. Hey Y’all

all casual like it’s 9:00 AM

    Are we still on topic?

How do you approach the sensitive topics with your date or significant other? I just say it! If he can’t deal with it, then I need to know sooner rather than later. Y’all already know my life is pretty much an open book. If I were gonna be ashamed to say it or talk about it, I wouldn’t do it to begin with.

Are there times when it is better not to discuss certain topics? Yes, In fron of the kids and my daddy :-)

Do you think that couples should be able to tell each other anything? Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes!

If there are touchy subjects that they don’t want to share, do you think that is a reflection on your relationship? Maybe yes, maybe no, depends on the subject. If my SO does not trust me enough to discuss certain things with me then I would always wonder what else he didn’t trust me enough to share.

Is there anything you would feel uncomfortable discussing with someone you are dating or involved with? Nothing that I can think of off hand. If he is concerned enough to ask, why not tell him

Kym In my opinion (<——Disclaimer), there’s not really a reason to discuss money unless you are looking to be really serious, like one of those conversations you have when you are considering marriage and need to know a financial history. Regular Joe’s have no reason to be in your pockets.

Slim frantically reaches the door only to realize she has no way out. As she turns around she is now face to face with For Real. Could be….NO..it can’t be….NOT THE PURPLE CROWN ROYAL BAG!!!! As soon as Slim feels her back is against the wall…she takes off her left Stilleto heel and flings it at For Real jabbing him in his arm. He falls to his knees. Slim uses this time to grab the keys, give him the once over and says…’Not in this lifetime’ Slim turns and limps out the front door into the sunset wiping the sweat off her brow

Unfortunately, yes. Many years ago I started suspecting my man, who had been getting home later than usual, of having a relationship with someone else. At first he denied it, but then I came home one Friday night to find a note saying he had gone to spend the weekend with a woman and her two young children, a family he had met recently (in his capacity as their legal aid attorney), to see if there was, indeed, something like the relationship I had suspected. In the note he apologized for leaving me to care for the dogs on my own and said he would return the favor someday. It was probably the worst hurt I had ever experienced in my life. Shortly after that weekend, imagine the the woman’s surprise when she called the house and I answered the phone - he hadn’t even told her he was involved, much like he hadn’t told me he had an estranged wife. She and I had a very interesting conversation via phone, she invited me over to talk more, during which time he called. Just to pull his chain she invited him to come on over and join us; needless to say, he declined. I must admit, we gals had quite a laugh over it. That was the end of my relationship with him; I hear he’s recently been in some trouble with the bar association where he currently resides. Fun times.
