Leaving Atlanta

A funny thing happened to me while I was leaving Atlanta. It’s like I suddenly got added to the most wanted single girl list or something! Perhaps I had a fantastic glow that made men take notice. I mean I was brimming with anticipation, anxiety, and eagerness!

At the Marta station, I was approached by the nicest guy who asked me where I was headed. Of course, I gushed about my impending adventures in South Africa! He gave me his number and said that he would like to take me out when I got back. COOL!

Then as I hopped off the train at Hartsfield-Jackson, a slightly younger, totally adorable guy glanced my way and smiled warmly. He said, “Has anyone ever told you that you are beautiful?” (Gee, flattery gets you everywhere, anyone?). Well, I blushed anyway, I mean, I am a girl! I replied, “Well, not today! So thank you for making my day!”

In each town we visited, of course, our lovely group of women attracted attention wherever we went! It seemed like every day, men would approach us. They were really curious about us, and some flirted shamelessly.

Finally, while waiting for my connecting flight to Atlanta at the Washington, DC airport, this guy a few seats over struck up a conversation with me. He has already called and says he would like to visit me here in Atlanta soon. Gee, maybe I should leave Atlanta more often. Who knew?

Have you ever considered moving to another city to increase your likelihood of meeting someone?

Have you ever met someone on your vacation that turned out to be a great date or long-term relationship?

Dr. Kym, our resident relationship expert, sent me a Forbes article that listed the best places for singles. Atlanta is not exactly in the top 10. We landed the 14th slot. Does this surprise you?

For all you single people, are you fairly confident that you can find someone in Atlanta? For the coupled up people, did you meet your mate in Atlanta or somewhere else?

Have you used online dating to mingle with single people in other cities or countries? How far is too far for you?

Did you relocate to Atlanta in hopes to find someone? If so, how’s that working out for you? Any regrets or plans to hit the next best city for singles?

To all the Spring Breakers, teachers, parents, or vacationers traveling next week, please be careful and have fun. Wear lots of protection and I am not just talking SPF!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

good morning mochatreat, ladydarkw/dimples, demi, diva and all of blogville

my last boyfriend is someone that i met while on vacation. for the time that we dated, i found it to be a pretty cool situation compared to the guys i was meeting here in atlanta. i would definitely be up for another long distance relationship if the opportunity arose. i think that as long as the plane ride to visit isn’t more than 2 hours, i’m game..lol

Morning Sorry if not too upbeat right now, I feel a possible migraine coming on.

No It doesn’t surprise me that Atlanta wasn’t in the top 10.

No I haven’t used online dating to mingle with singles in other cities because i’d much rather date someone that I could see on a regular basis….not just on holidays or every 3 to months.

No I’ve never met anyone on vacation that turned into a relationship or great date. What happens on the ship stays on the ship

Morning Kinderbabe & SlimOne!! To all those that will join us, Happy Friday!!

I am not surprised that Atlanta was not in the top ten cities for Singles. Like you WD, I have experienced being approached while out of town or leaving town.

I think that you can meet anyone, anywhere. I dont necessarily think you have to be in a certain city to met people. But I also am just getting back into the dating game. Maybe that opinion will change..

Good Morning Everyone!! hey Kinderbabe

No, it doesn’t surprise me that Altanta is not high on the list. All of my girlfriends who are NOT in Atlanta are married. There is so much temptation in Atlanta that guys don’t want to settle down like they do in other cities.

I have an EX who had a hard time committing in Atlanta. We broke up and he moved to Omaha and all he could talk about is settling down and how he wanted to be married. There weren’t many options in Omaha and he wanted someone in his life….in Atlanta…he had too many in his life

Morning Folks!

I do seem to attract more men when I’m on vacation, but that’s moreso because I’m in a vacation mood. I flirt more (with anybody) and am generally more relaxed than when I am home.

While I didn’t move to Houston to meet anyone, I have met more men here than in Atlanta. I’ve been on more dates in my one year here than in my 8 years in Atlanta. And while I would be open to a LDR - I wouldn’t seek it online because we would need that initial time to really get to know one another before I would put forth the effort to maintain the relationship. Therefore I think the only way a LDR would work for me is if I met a guy, we hit it off and one of us moved.

Way to go Wise!! I am one of the spring breakers….and I’m sure all the protection I’ll need will be SPF…lol

I don’t care for the LDR, like Slim (hope you feel better soon, gurl!!), I’d rather be involved with someone I can see more often.

I met my husband online 7 years ago, back when yahoo personals were free! We were both living in Arkansas at the time. We dated for 4 mos before we were married. It was one of those things that “you just know”. We have a great relationship, rarely argue, best friends, and LOVE being childless!

Now, we have since moved around the country due to my husband’s job and have finally settled in ATL for a bit. We have had the HARDEST time finding couples our age (mid thirties) to hang with. Not sure what the deal is. We are certainly not boring people, yet we are also beyond the partying stage of our lives. Oh well. Good thing we enjoy each others company!

I think that Forbes article is a bit skewed because of the sprawl that we all know exists here. While ITP probably doesn’t have the numbers to even make the list, I’d bet it would garner higher rankings across the board - except cost of living, of course.

As for your experience while heading out of town I think the answer is simple. Happy people are more attractive and more approachable.

Yeah Baby, it’s a high pollen count & cool, breezy FRIDAY!!!!

Moaning Bloggers, Yes, I have always wanted to move to Houston. My uncle tells me the men would absolutely LOVE me there however I havent really had the balls to do it.

Yes, I met a nice, nice sexi dude in Argentina last July & we kept in touch only for a lil while. Guess, we both knew it wasn’t gonna work out. But he was nice while it lasted.

I can’t wait to go to Jamaica in July to get my Groove back!!! I’m definitely looking to have a ball just like Stella.

Atlanta has gotten a bit too over rated in my opinion. I dont think people here are looking to be in serious or long term relationships anymore. I think everyone seems to think it’s the city just like JD say’s

“WHERE THE PLAYA’S PLAY”!!!

I hate what the A has become.

Good Morning.

I have never met anyone promising while on vacation because I usually would have those darn kids with me or I was already in a rather serious relationship.

Off topic somewhat, I am leaving “Atlanta” tomorrow morning. I was not going to do anything special for my birthday, which is on Tuesday, this year but my marido wants to get away for a few days. My friend Doc and her husband have a yacht (nothing extravagant however pretty nice) and he has made plans for us to join them for a Break at Lake Lanier Island. We are going to sleep on the boat Saturday and Sunday but we will stay at the resort Monday and Tuesday. Doc and I are going to spend a day at the spa while the men are off playing golf. We’ll all hang out at the beach one day and the rest of the time we’ll just wing it. My brother told me that my marido needs diversion, release and restoration to get pass the grieving stage for his mother. He seems to have come to terms with it but it won’t hurt to get away for a while. A besides it will be fun.

Chocolate Peach when in July are you going to Jamaica because I’ll be there that first week and I can’t wait!

Also, I agree that ATL has become an adult playground for single life. I know of at least 2 couples that were happily married living in other cities, but moved here due to potential job oppurtunity and they ended up having some much trouble fidelity wise. One of the couples got too involved in the nightlife scene and all the 31 flavors of women here. I’m sure other cities have just as many issues as we do here. I wouldn’t even want to attempt to know how dating in California would be

Chocolate I’ve lived here all my life…and I have to agree with you…I hate what the A has become. Play on playas….but you’ll do it without me!! And as for Jamaica and getting your groove back….good luck! While I was there I never saw a hottie that I would even have considered getting down with. I kept thinking “daaayyuumm, where are the fine Jamaican men?”….oh well…hope you ‘ll have fun!! But they were falling all over themselves to approach us…and in Mexico and in the Dominican…etc.

@ Sup Blog..TGIF…I think the forbes list is not that accurate..Being that ATL has a slew of HBC’s ..its know for job opportuniities, even known for music, videos and even movies being filmed here on top of all the conventions held here because of it being one of the top two cities for adult strip clubs…ALL men know ATL is known for having an abundance of attractive single women..Numbers dont lie..for a black man..its the land of milk and honey…Anyone listening in on Steve “platypus” Harvey?

Good Morning All

Peach I am in agreement with you as a Atlanta native I have a love hate relationship with the lifestyle changes the city has gone through. So I was surprised somewhat at the article listing Atlanta below the top 10…but then I thought about my own dating experiences here and the fact that most of the men I dated in the city were not actually Atlanta natives(my son’s father was from Cincy).

Thanks to cable and movies the only images you get of men in Atlanta are gay players on the down-low who are all about slinging dope and wearing gold grills. Sad. Even sadder is running into the guy going broke paying for “rent and roll rims” trying to keep that image up.

I have dated online and met a guy as far away as Canada.(too far)

I havent met anyone while on vacation but that is because vacationing is a new thing for me(last year was my first in 10 years)

I am listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show….complete MESS!

These 2 men have got to be the dumbest men on the planet earth! I mean to be 36, married with kids and get caught up with a 24 yr old. And to make matters worst….she is sleeping with your friend who works at the same place and who is married as well. She definitely got game! She outright told these men that she’s not going to choose…and they’re still willing to get with her…

The wife wrote in saying she wants a divorce….

I mean really….how does a man get strung that far out? Now, he’s going to lose his family and the 24yr old don’t want him like that…

Chocolate Peach I’ll be in Ochos Rios also but will be leaving the day after you get down there. Yeah we have a huge group going and i’m not exactly sure what the total is as of right now since it’s still growing. I plan on hanging out in Miami the weekend before I leave too. So it’s going to be a real true vacation for me.

SeanJ what is Steve talking about on there? I can’t pick him up at my office.

Dr. Kym You have a point there regarding the grill wearing undercover brothas that are portrayed as the culture here. They don’t necessarily portray the women to be all that great either….take BAPS for instance.

While I agree the article can be skewed I think that in terms of dating for black women Atlanta would rank pretty low. One reason is education which was one of the catagories. While Atlanta may have a slew of HBCU’s and other Atlanta universities. Atlanta does not have a slew of eligible well educated Black men walking around. While on the other side of the scale black women out number black men on the education scale. but we have beaten this dead horse before.

I think that all of these statistics and ratios and whatnot are changing the mindset of the women who would otherwise be interested in having a monogamous relationship. I’m sure a lot of us feel that since we’re in a lose-lose situation when it comes to finding a truly single man, who’s not looking to date multiple women and play games and tell lies, we may as well play too….date multiple men, have one for every need, etc….basically date like a man! Anyone agree?

Have you ever considered moving to another city to increase your likelihood of meeting someone? No

I’ve lived in Atlanta a little over two years now. Even before I moved here, it was common knowledge among brothas from other cities that it’s something about the ATL that makes women get flyer. I’ve seen average looking chicks move to Atlanta, then when you see them again they look like stars. The way they wear their hair, their skin and nails all improve. This city transforms females. I think there are so many beautiful women here that they hook each other up on beauty tips or maybe it’s something in the water. Whatever it is, keep up the good work ladies

Sexione Dating like a man is waaayy overrated. When I moved here I had enough men friends to cover everyday of the week. A man for every need and a need for every man. It was fun but ultimately unfulfilling. It seemed to me that after playing the same game for a while, the men were all to game to play along and it/they was never what I really wanted, just an end to justify the means. Besides if it were so great, would the men be in this blog complaining about how wishy-washy women can be?

Have you ever considered moving to another city to increase your likelihood of meeting someone? No. I would never move to another city simply to meet someone.

Have you ever met someone on your vacation that turned out to be a great date or long-term relationship? No I have not. I was approached by a handsome Latino last October while I was in West Palm Beach. It was a business trip, but he was smitten. I proudly told him that I was already in a “satisfying, committed relationship.” He said, “He is a lucky man.” Hummph. I find out a few months later that during this time, the “lucky man” was getting “lucky” with another woman. LOL!

Dr. Kym, our resident relationship expert, sent me a Forbes article that listed the best places for singles. Atlanta is not exactly in the top 10. We landed the 14th slot. Does this surprise you? Not at all.

Have you used online dating to mingle with single people in other cities or countries? No. But, I wonder about Atlanta’s reputation in other cities. You know, do women in other cities think all the men are on the down-low?; do the men think there are a bunch of desperately single women?

Have a Powerful, Productive, Prosperous and Positive Day!!!

Atlanta does not have a slew of eligible well educated Black men walking around…looking to settle down or stay with one woman.

To me, it’s more of a morality problem…In the A, there are plenty intelligent non-educated brothers who have their own businesses, great careers, and handling theirs.

But, let’s face it…We aren’t trying to make any effort to marry a “Hoopz” or Melyssa Ford look alike…Just F/K them for a few hours and then move on to Buffie the body.

But, I realized (1) my hormones were raging at that moment; (2) That is not what I truly desire. I refuse to allow my values to be swayed by popular opinion. Atlanta is not overrated in anyway, Ladies, granted there are a lot of cats who are enjoying the variety of women, but to be honest, most of us are good men looking for good ladies, but enjoying the sluts until.
Just being honest

As for the city being saturated with people trying hold up an image, I do agree. I went to the Velvet Room recently and realized that I was at a video shoot…LOL It is amazing how many people get their style directly from BET. Slim, I wish I could sell their tixs, are they just happen to back out at the last minute. I always make sure I have a good time where ever I go!!

@Demi, Enuff said….. Prime EX: My step brother & his wife was here visiting this past week. They actually just left Thurs evening. They’re from South Fla a little small town. Population 10k. Anyway, they arrived here Sun am. I promise you I may have seen him twice. SERIOUSLY!! Dude rented that car w/a navigation & I’m almost positive he wore that sucker out.

He’s one of those I can get enough dudes. Love women,I mean love women & I can just imagine what he got himself into this past week. I’m just awaiting!! In the next 8-9 mos some chic will be calling me saying she’s preganant with his kid. Dude is 32 & have a minor league baseball team. The sad thing about it was his wife, wife since we were in HS was there at the hosue doing nothing. I felt so bad for her. OMG!! He would sneak out thru the guess bathroom & return before day that am.

While packing Thurs he’s just a cheezing & say’s sis I’ll be back with all our things in approx 2 months. I promise you that man was like a kid in Toys R us. He seen booty for days here. And if they move here together I see divorce papers from a mile away.

Good morning everyone. WiseDiva you had your glow on when you departed for your trip. I’ve never dated anyone online, never even looked at an online profile of anyone. Never moved anywhere for a man and doubt that I ever would. Men meet me, and I meet them during everyday circumstances.

Jewel did you hear when the 24yr old called into the show? The sad thing about it…these are real stories. She threatened to call their wives if the men kept putting her blast. Carla/Shirley was both like don’t do it. Question Would you want the other women to call you and tell you that she’s having an affair with your hubby? Or would you rather just remain clueless?

chocolate & Sexi I am from Atlanta as well, and I must agree… I don’t like it as much as I use to. Growing up, this place was so much fun, and the “boys” were plentiful and more willing to be in a relationship. (Remember Lenox mall before the remodel & the “others” took over) I don’t know if we were just younger and didn’t expect as much or if it really was easier to date, but whatever it was… it’s gone! Atlanta has gotten so flashy and fake - anyone born and raised here will probably agree that it’s just not the same. This is my home and I doubt I’d ever live anywhere else, but i’ve often thought about moving b/c dating here is the worst!

Guys have no reason to settle down because they don’t have too. Guys don’t have to take you out anymore, because there are 5 chicks in his cell phone who would be happy to sit at the house and watch a movie - that SHE rented. They don’t have to wait on sex because the chick he met last night at QuickTrip is going to give it up the first time he tries her. There are too many woman here and nobody respects relationships/marriage any longer. Even the broke dudes who don’t have anything have chicks fighting over them!

My homegirl wants to move to Houston because she feels like she has a better chance of getting married. Who knows???

I feel sorry for young couples that move here and have to maintain their relationship in this city…

Jake, I’m guilty of that one. I’m forever w/the loaks on in the club. Have been doing that for years now.

Yes, at funerals but not a regular sunday service.

Dr.Kym, Funny you ask that. I just got her CD from a cowrker of mine yesterday & No!! personally I wouldn’t buy it or download it. But Hey, we could have different taste in music. She’s on that Lauryn Hill edge. She looks nothing like she sounds. She has that voice like she could resemble a small version of Macy Grey but she looks like a P*** Cat doll. It’s ok!! Just ok.

Of course JustMe- Yeah, I agree with you on that one. Most men will try want to be physical at some point, but if I’m not feeling him on that level and I’m very upfront about that because I have herpes for one and I’m not trying to infect anyone. I’m still surprised @ the men who want to be intimate and not use protection and they know about my situation….that’s a big turn off for me. So it’s important for me to know about a man before I decide to spend time, anytime kind of time with him, be it on platonic or physical level.

I’m with Jake, I love Atlanta. If I were a bachelor in this city, I would be one helluvamuggfugga. All the dimes I see on the daily, with green, no swagger, scrub azz dudes its ridiculous. But I can’t hate. It’s this one cat, me and the rest of the played-out playas in my development had to recognize. This female on my block is doing her thing, beautiful home, 745i, career and of course no man. This young brotha came up here with no job, dated her, moved in with her, Now he drives the beemer and she drives the other car. It’s too easy in the “A”.

sj it’s sad to hear that a lot of women are trying to live the video life. i guess that’s what i equate with our all time of materialism. men say they want down to earth women but i’m not feeling that. i’m very down to earth, not homely…lol…down to earth and i find that guys shy away from my type, drama free, confident, independent thinker, etc. i think that a lot of men are so shallow that they enjoy being w/a women from whom they know what to expect. women who are highly materialistic will require little emotionally or spiritually…they just want the duckets…lol. a lot of men are cool w/that b/c that’s easier than making an emotional investment. what do you think?

Lady Dark I was not listening when she called in. I heard the discussion afterwards. I would not want the other woman to call me. But if she did, I would not have a long discussion with her. I would thank her for the call, and confront my husband. Infidelity is not something between the two women. It is literally between the husband and wife. Remain clueless? From my own experience, I do not believe wives are totally clueless. We choose to ignore the signs. We ask, he lies, and we choose to believe him.

Now get ya’ll pens and sign this. This way of thinking, though it sounds nice, is so out of touch with reality. You are really are cluless about the male psyche, it may not work in all settings, but I can assure you that every man is capable of having a purely sexual relationship a woman and remain tuned into the search for Ms. Right. No matter who he is, before you got him and got close to him, “HE HAD TO CUT SOME PUDDY OFF TO BE EXCLUSIVE WITH YOU”, but thats how it goes when you meet a woman you want to be yours.

I find that the dating scene in Atlanta is dead. For the most part, i find it difficult to find a woman who is interesting at all. I mean everyone seems to be carbon copies of some music celebrity or video vixon. I’ve had more success meeting women from other cities, like Seattle, Denver, and New York who are more interesting, well rounded, individualistic, and realistic about what they want and who they are. In my experience, i would agree that it’s better to get out of the city to find someone interesting. I’d rather pay for the plane ticket than be bored to death or deal with unnecessary drama.

Long-time lurker, first time poster.

Have you ever considered moving to another city to increase your likelihood of meeting someone? Yes, I moved to Atlanta. It has been a resounding thud.

Have you ever met someone on your vacation that turned out to be a great date or long-term relationship? I normally vacation with my family since I don’t get to see them that much.

Dr. Kym, our resident relationship expert, sent me a Forbes article that listed the best places for singles. Atlanta is not exactly in the top 10. We landed the 14th slot. Does this surprise you? I think 14 is awful high.

Have you used online dating to mingle with single people in other cities or countries? Everyone talks about how many single girls there are here, but my experience has been that they are single because they have unrealistic expectations or have been treated so poorly in the past that they are almost impossible to really connect with.

I like reading this blog/comments since most of my friends are hooked up.

I have/had considered going back to home to meet a girl and bring her back to Georgia with me. Someone that fits my mentality more cause these Atlanta ones are something else. I have met girls a couple times while in other cities but didn’t think about trying to date them or flying all over the country to get something started. Would rather find someone more local/convenient to spend time with. It’s a lot to ask someone to up and move in case things don’t work out and then they blame you for having them move and all that drama. Atlanta is a great place for singles. I don’t have a problem meeting girls when out and most are nice, sweet and educated. I think I can find a woman in Atlanta, I am pretty optimistic. I tried the online thing for a bit but I do so much better in person meeting women and getting dates so that’s what I concentrate on. Guess my charm and personality come across better in person. I moved her after college cause I needed a job. Thought I would have much better time dating here than where I’m from which I have so it’s all good.

SlimOne Yes. You choose to believe because you do not want your world disrupted. And, it is not as simple as the house, kids, money. A good attorney will secure those things for you. LOL! Sorry Justin Seriously, it is about the commitment you made; the hope that he will stop; and hoisting your self-esteem out of the toilet. We discuss the sexual part of infidelity. That’s the easy part. The hard part is dealing with the reasons why and the decisions you have to make.

I’m late reading…today. It’s payday and I hand out the checks, therefore I have to correct all the mistakes with the payroll company. I hate this part of my Friday… I LOVE 5 o’clock though!

This has never happened to me personally, but my SO’s bf, met his (now) wife in Daytona about 14 yrs ago. She came up for “Freak Nik” shortly after the Daytona trip, and the rest is history. Funny, she almost got her head knocked off because she opened the door to my SO’s room, while visiting her hook-up. I’m not the same mild-mannered mom I am today. I moved to Atlanta 3 years ago from New Jersey, and I must say to the ladies that if you’re a single man or a man with a girlfriend(for that matter) Atlanta is a haven. I once went to a Superbowl Party in the Southwest area, and when i pulled up, the driveway was full of luxury cars, so i thought the party was going to be upscale. When I got inside, the women were AMAZING. Beautiful, sophisticated(seemingly), and intelligent. The kind of women i go for. The party progressed and mingling was great; good conversations, nice personalities; hey good food, good music, good company, what could be better? Right? Well about half-time, the mood changed and all of a sudden i was at an orgy. I mean to see these sophisticated, intelligent women subject themselves to what I witnessed was well beyond me. One young lady said she was on her way to pick her husband up at the airport when she heard about the party. She was VERY involved in the “festivities”. Another young lady stated that she didn’t mind being filmed if her wedding ring did not appear in the shot. Hmmmmm.. I’ve resolved myself to dating outside the city just because I hope to find someone who is a genuine lady; not looking the part, sounding the part, acting the part, but being an all out wh!#. I can’t blame the sistahs exclusively because there were guys that enjoy and participate in these festivities. The shocking thing was, one of the fellaz said when I was leaving “aaahhh man don’t be scared, it’s only p$$!, and this is nothing, the part last weekend was bigger than this one! H… were walking around putting d..ks in their mouths”! WHOA!!!!! I’m not a monk, but that was too much for me. When i hear of statistics that state 65% of all young women between the ages of 16 and 26 in Atlanta who have an AIDS test, test positive for HIV, i understand why. Am i going to settle down with a woman I meet in ATL? HELL NO!!!!

To the wholesome women out there, you have my sympathies. I understand why it’s so hard to find a man here, they’re all “tricking off”. To the others, I’ve seen what you do, so remember when you point the finger, the are three more pointing back at you.

Ok, here comes the bad news. Dating is dying and on its last leg. Ladies, you have to decide if you want to be a great lay or someones wife. Rarely do the 2 go together. While everyone wants and needs to have experience, some of you have gone over the deep end. Thats why you cant get a guy to date you. He doesn’t want to pay for something you’ve obviously been giving away for free. And yes, we can smell the D**k on you. Its in everything you say, do, and think. Your no longer fresh. And as far as uneducated bm’s in atlanta, thats a farce. Its like the all guys are on the dl thing. Their not all on the dl and most have educations. They just don’t want to be with you. My sisters, and I say this with pure love in my heart, you are becoming obsolete. How you have taken a previously beautiful thing like womanhood and screwed it up in the last 20 years is a beyond me. Don’t get me wrong, even previous generations sought experience, but they did so with tact and and discretion. Finally, animals in the wild only run after fresh game. They trot up to leftovers. What you are experiencing is guys trotting up to you and taking a sniff and then keep on moving. There’s not enough meat for a full course meal.

I agree that moving to the A can be difficult for young married couples. My marriage is over partly because of the nightlife/dating scene/abundance of women here. It is a lot of temptation for someone who is not strong and very disciplined.

No one keep anything forever. I mean you don’t’ own one car forever, you don’t’ keep friends forever, women can’t even keep friends for a decade. So it’s unrealistic for you to think that you should remain with one partner forever… I’m just being realistic. There are exceptions to the rule (couples married for 2 or three decades) but those are anomalies and not the norm… Reality is that most marriages/relationships won’t make it simply because of the ME and ONLY ME pressure put on it……

What up Blog Fam!!!

Hey I am from the A as well and it has changed with all the wannabees but it’s not as bad as the blog ladies think. I believe the women in the A are just tired of competing. Women aren’t use to competing and working for men like men are use to competing and working for women. It use to be a time when a women could sit back, look pretty, and wait on the man to come to her. So, that’s why the blog ladies and most other ladies complaining that there are no good men in Atlanta. So, like my coach use to say:

Coach: (Screaming and spitting) Do you want to win??

For Real: (Trying not to think about the spit in my eyes) yes

Coach: *(while spitting even more) I said do you want to win???

For Real: (disgusted by the spit that just flew onto my lips) YES!! YES SIR (while returning the luggy)

Coach: (real calm) Then get your azz back in the game and play harder.

For Real: (back in the huddle) What did coach say?? KILL EVERYBODY!!!

truth you need to do some further examination. “we” as women have not “screwed” things up. there are many variables that go into the oversexed and hypersexed presence that dominates today’s dating scene. we, as women and men, need to know and recognize that our worth is not routed in the quality of our sex or the amount of money in our bank account.

* How many of you ladies would date a brotha with only a GED, no desire for additional education, and employed as a janitor?* I was in Spondivits yesterday after work. The sista that was serving me was being flirtatious. Initially, I thought she was working up her tip, but then I realized she was trying to holla (I accidentally forgot to wear my ring again). I told her she was flirting, she said I was. My response was “actually, I’m trying not to flirt with you.” She said, “why…… I’m not on your level?” Her words made me think. Because I was suited and booted and eating lobster and crab, she felt I was above dating a waitress. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. I never cared much about a female’s educational background, employment status, credit score, etc. Granted, all of these things can give insight to one’s level of responsibility and quality of life, but I’ve always been more concerned with do they make me happy. Do they respect and treat me well. I think if more women used this criteria as the litmus test for potential suitors they would have much more success

Joke…

George Bush goes to a primary school to talk to the kids to get a little PR. After his talk he offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand and George asks him his name.

“Stanley,” responds the little boy.

“And what is your question, Stanley?”

“I have 3 questions. First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? And third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?”

Just then, the bell rings for recess. George Bush informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.

When they resume George says, “OK, where were we? Oh, that’s right question time. Who has a question?” Another little boy puts up his hand. George points him out and asks him his name.

“Steve! ,” he responds.

“And what is your question, Steve?”

“Actually , I have 5 questions. First, why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN? Second, why are you President when Al Gore got more votes? Third, whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden? Fourth, why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? And fifth, what the hell happened to Stanley?”

Patrick, the same thing happened to me when I first moved here from St. Louis. I was at a party in Buckhead and then people just started having sex everywhere and with anyone. I was stuck. I didn’t have my car because I went to the party with some people I’d met and hung out with. I had no clue about their lifestyle until that night. That taught me 2 things about Atlanta: (1) always have your own car and (2) be super selective about who you’re going to be intimate with unless you like going to the pharmacist . I’ve seen some strange, freaky things in the 6 years I’ve lived here. Another thing, you have to be wary of the “quiet, shy” type of women here. They’re only quiet and shy in public. Can you say Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?

And why we are more successful at it..Women look at all those things…looks, education, credit, status of employment, bank account, height, length…and then on top of that..after u passed the check list…u go under a tighter scrutiny to for them to allow you to date them..they just need to face it..they are picky and its hurting their chances in dating.

@TheTruth: ummm, not sure what you mean by “smell the d**k” on you?? Care to qualify that statement? That’s a pretty interesting perspective that you have …

@Joey: okaaaaaaaaaaay…. I’m not sure where to begin. It’s people that share your same sentiment that trouble me so. You can not .. No.. You may not equate cars to marriage… nope, can’t do it. Ummmm, most women do have friends from childhood, high school, college, etc.. Our friendships evolve over time, but the sanctity of our friendships generally stay for a lifetime. Marriage is something very different from even friendships and ummmm… really different from cars… Many women would like to have an exclusive relationship.. Some want to get married, others may just want a long time partner - there’s nothing wrong with that. What’s wrong with wanting what you want? I get a little ticked when people — no, make that men - who are probably single, misguided, hurt, recovering from a bad breakup - talk about the catastrophic expectations of a lasting, loving committed relationship. Who is anyone to discourage a woman from having what she wants? You know the type of people that always go around talking about “this won’t work”? They are called naysayers. Marriage is hard work, plain and simple, take it from someone who is presently there. It takes mustering up energy and insight, open and honest communication, talking candidly about your feeling and needs, it requires intimacy, trust, closeness and understanding. If a person can ascribe to a few of these things, a marriage can work and yep, even last a lifetime.. Will it be easy? Nope… but neither is going to work everyday, feeding your children, cleaning the house, cooking dinner maintaining friendships, etc ..

Dushawn I dated a guy who drove a truck (daily route through the city), I was a full time student, out of all the people I know formally educated or not he was the most well read guy ever. He kept up with politics, the arts, everything. He was respectful to me and we had alot of things in common. We had issues only because he was about 8 years older than me at the time and recently divorced(but I digress). It is like my aunt says you can have all the book sense in the world but little common sense. An common sense says this world is vast and you have to know more than your little corner of it. So yes I would date a guy with a GED..because I have but while he had the “good enough diploma” he also had insight into world issues.

And before the men get even higher on the woman bashing horse, this joke is for entertainment purposes ONLY!!!

A young couple got married and left on their honeymoon.

When they got back, the bride immediately called her mother.

“Well, how was the honeymoon?” asked the mother.

“Oh mamma!” she exclaimed. “The honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic!”

No sooner had she spoken the words than she burst out crying. “But mamma … as soon as we returned, Sam started using the most horrible language. He’s been saying things I’ve never heard before! All these awful 4-letter words! You’ve got to come get me and take me home… please mamma!”

“Now Sarah …” her mother answered. “Calm down! Tell me, what could be so awful? What 4-letter words has he been using?”

“Please don’t make me tell you, mamma.” wept the daughter.

“I’m so embarrassed! They’re just too awful! You’ve got to come get me and take me home… please mamma!”

“Darling, baby, you must tell me what has you so upset … Tell your mother these horrible 4-letter words!”

Still sobbing, the bride replied, “Oh, mamma … words like dust, wash, iron, and cook!”

Demi, I would marry myself because i’m a beast in the kitchen, i’m funny, and I love football! And, since I love to cook, i’m pretty funny, and I live for football season… I think we’d get along just fine because we have so much in common :)

DuShawn, I have a friend who is a gold digger… she doesn’t play! She would never date my ex because he doesn’t have much and he’s a very regular guy. She and I are completly differnt with our taste in men, but at the end of the day, we are both single. Regardless if you go for the guy who shines or the guy who doesn’t have much, unfortunatley, it sometimes doesn’t work out for whatever reason. More important than where you are… its where you’re going. If he doesn’t want to be anything more in his life than a janitor, then I may date him (you never know what type of influence you may have on someones outlook on life), but could I see myself spending the rest of my life with him, probably not. But, if I dated him and found myself falling in love and he was everything I ever needed… well, I guess I’d have to change my mind about being wtih him forever. You cannot control who you love.

(ps - The only way I’d know what he did for a living or how far he’d gone is school is if he told me because I don’t ask those kinds of questions)

@DuShawn I think the problem here in Atlanta is that too many men just want to “have fun”. What’s wrong with looking for love if that’s what you desire in your life? I believe that fun has it’s place…but finding love and being in love equals fun to me.

I agree with most comments made by the women today, guys here in Atlanta are superficial and they are all looking for women with video faces and bodies. If/when they do meet a “good girl” they pass her up. I’ve been single for 5 years and for some reason I seem to attract married men, who all ask me the same question, “Why are you single?” They all tell me I’m fine, I’m smart, I’m independent, I have no children and just an all around great person and I’d make someone a great wifey (or as one guy told me, I’m definitely wifey material). However, because I have standards and don’t allow myself to just give my body away or accept anything less than what I deserve, I remain single.

I’ve thought many times about moving to another city (coincidentally Houston was my number one choice; Charlotte was second)because dating in Atlanta sucks. People here (men and women) are so fake until it’s sickening. I’m originally from Mississippi and I’ve often thought about hooking up with someone back home and suggesting he relocate here, but when you bring gentlmen from small towns to Atlanta they straight lose their minds. Needless to say I never put any effort into that idea.

I did not read Patrick and The Truth’s entire posts. I caught Musingitis And, I have stated on here before. Atlanta is a buffet for the men who are looking for quantity. Quality is a totally different level that none of them can attain while mired in the quantity.

Uh… can a women get a man that maybe has a j-o-b??? Can he not be “fug ugly”, Oh, I don’t know.. If I’m 5’6, can a sister ask for a man to be at least her height, whatever her height is??? WOW, I’m glad I dropped in today. I haven’t lived in ATL in little over 10 years. Much has changed since my dating days and running around the Dec…. Each time I come back and hear the stories of dating life. The more I’m thankful that I meet a man from Georgia(there is nothing like a southern man) that like me really has no desire to move back to fast. I don’t mind long distance relationship or right next door. Its not that big of deal if you really have a true intrest in someone.

I meet men everytime I come home and its just a blimp of time and wasted energy. Non are serious, they are just about the meet/greet and how they can get in some skin.

You can ask a single man or woman from any part of the States about there dating life and there will be pros and con’s period. Sistas in MN will say brotha’s don’t even look at them anymore; ones in LA will be like brotha’s have no get up and go; ones in NYC will say too many trying to live the Hip Hop life; in the Chi they will say brotha’s got too much going on corporate but can’t let the thug life go. So geography is what is as the dating life will be. Until I started traveling outside of the States did I understand how much dating in America is so different from other countries and cultures. We really having taking the humf(if that is a word) out of real courtship. I want to one day be able to tell my children children like my great aunts told me of how there husbands woed them, and courted them. This world is forever evolving so hopefully one day we will get back to the good stuff between men and women.

DuShawn and SeanJ Men can be picky, too. The gentleman I am talking to now said he almost let me “get away.” He said one look, and he assumed I was high-maintenance…expensive meals, Chastain Park, etc. Jewel’s Rule: Keep your money in your pocket and show me character.

Men and women need to look deeper than the surface. Atlanta’s shallow, greed, image-conscious, disease-ridden dating scene has nothing to offer anyone seeking quality.

You know being born and raised here, things certainly have changed as I’ve gotten older. Its is very hard now to find anyone here in my own state, also dating? No one dates anymore. Then what do they do, the get to know that person and all. I have found myself to meet men from other states, that do want a serious relationship and marriage. Here at my own home base! The new phrase is “I’m Cool”!? I cannot see myself being the person who’s second. Atlanta has changed a lot, everyone wants to be on top but they’re not.

Thatwhen the chick obviously has garden tool tendencies and then wants kickto you like she is so wholesome. Dudes with any level of experience can through that ish with so easily. So as the truth stated, we can smell the dyck on you.

Swingers party? Perhaps. It was promoted as a SuperBowl Party, and I know some of the guys (married), and if they’re swingers, then i’m SURE their wives don’t know. That’s their business! You role the dice every time you meet someone new, but if i know that the tables in Vegas are “fixed” and my chances of truly winning are scarce, then I’m going to do my gambling somewhere else. My goodness so many different topics are going on….

I like what truth had to say…I think it’s a good analogy he made…

Finally, animals in the wild only run after fresh game. They trot up to leftovers. What you are experiencing is guys trotting up to you and taking a sniff and then keep on moving. There’s not enough meat for a full course meal.

I don’t think any female would classify themselves as leftover….but you got to ask yourself how are you being perceived by the opposite sex

I also agree with JustMe, women have to have standards and men shouldn’t care about how much money we make, career, etc…we’re not suppose to be the Main Providers. You guys don’t look to us for security….we look to you for security. I know with the feminine movement we say we don’t need a man…and that’s true to a point. But God hasn’t changed the role that the man is the head of the household…therefore he is ultimately responsible for the success of the household….EVERYONE ISN’T QUALIFIED FOR THIS CEO POSITION….and you would teach your daughters the same thing!

By SeanJohnson

An Inspirational Moment

To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk disappointment. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.” –from ‘The Dilemma’

“The tragedy of life is not found in failure but complacency. Not in you doing too much, but doing too little. Not in you living above your means, but below your capacity. It’s not failure but aiming too low, that is life’s greatest tragedy.” –Benjamin E. Mayes

Yet these are the women those Tier 1 (or so they say they are tier 1) men choose to marry. I mean guys you give us grief for the choices we make call us selfish, spoiled, picky, naive, blind, and I am sure a few other choice names. Dude: Hi there, you sure have a beautiful smile. Do you mind if i sit?

Chick: Likewise thank you. It’s all yours.

Dude: So tell me about yourself

Chick: well, I have 4 kids. (yes they all have different fathers)

Dude: Really? I would’ve never guessed it. I actually have 3 kids too. I have two baby mommas though so you have me beat on that one (they both laugh flirtingly)

Chick: Let’s see, oh I finally got my section 8 housing approved so I should be moving in two weeks from now. One of my baby daddy’s will probably drop by from time to time, but not to worry, he’ll never come over unless it’s after 12. What’s your living status?

Dude: actually i just recently moved back in with my mom. I’m currently separated from my wife of…get this…only 7 months! Yeah, we moved up here from Waycross,Ga and i got up here and just got bukked wild.

Chick: wow! 7 months! I can’t believe i’ve met someone that’s been married for that long. You must really love her. How did she find out?

Dude: well what had happened was i got invited to this Superbowl party. My wife wasn’t able to come with me so i went with one of my homeboyz. Well next thing you know everrbody getting loose doing all kinda freaky things. Long story short…when i got home…she could smell the p-dussy on me and wha-lah! that led to our separation.

chick and dude continure chatting it up and eventually exchanges numbers. 3 weeks later Dude moves out of moms house and moves in with Chick since moms was tripping bout eating her lunch meat and CHick’s rent is only $60

Now the blog brothers will say why you trying to change that man..see that is the problem with you women always trying to change and mold some guy. Clean him up…..

@jewel 12:04 post, Ha!!! Lmao…Big Tyme!! U think I tipped em off. Dawg………

For me it’s not so much the dating scene here in the A that disgust me. It’s Atlanta period. We are too big of a city to have a sorry Football team, Basketball (Hawks better season this yr) Dont even get me started on the Braves, Our past & present city mayors. I luv Mrs. Franklin though. Our police brutality of a department we have.

Every other dude you meet here have or about to record a album (My bros too). Every chic swear she’s a model. Our major HBCU’s are all in hott water. Man is there a need to cont? I luv the A but it has really truly took a spin for the WORSE!!

What’s even WORSE!! 85% Of the people that live were NOT born & raised here.

The best thing that the A has going right now is Rap & Hip Hop (psssssh) & or was GA Tech.

Everybody that has moved here was looking for a quick come up & they were told the A is the city to make it happen.

Yes, this stuff happens in every city but were talkin bout home & that is Hotlanta!! And I am a true Ga breed. My name isn’t Chocolate Peach for nothing!!

I can just win his trust with a few homecooked meals, a nice bath, a trip to the vet to get him his shots and neutered. An then keep him well fed and dry so he will guard the house, provide treats so he will not bark at the neighbors, and rub his belly so he will fall asleep at the foot of the bed. An I can say to all look at how I made a well trained guard dog out of a three-legged stray.

Thanks Mo! I know I shouldn’t get discouraged, but it’s hard not to today. Ya’ll have had some amazing and funny stories in the past, but now it seems to be bash the A day. I’ve never lived anywhere else (besides college and that’s not far away from home) and I’ve grown to love this city so much. I guess I’m just nervous about starting the dating experience outside of college, especially after just ending a long and messed up relationship.

The bad dating situation should not be blamed on the city. The problem is lack of morals and people (men and women) not truly understanding what love, commitment and marriage mean.

Slim You made a funny… Do you have some Remy in that stash??

Dr.Kym good point but on average men know who they are and are honest enough with themselves to admit it (See Alvin’s post) but women typically do not know who they really are until they are much older and even then they may not know. Now, I am not saying women are the only ones but most dudes know if they ain’t about ish because we as men tell each other about our true self. Where women always lying to each in there face but will tell someone else the truth about her BFF.

Hi Everyone!!

Back today because I could not stay away. Well enough with the Dr. Seuss. The topic that WD brought up was one that I was thinking about before I got here. It is amazing how the dating scene is one big game! I think that we are all pawns in the middle of it. I know I feel like a chess piece. I have 2 kids and I try to get out as much as possible to see if I can meet Mr. Right and not Mr. Right Now, but they seem to be one in the same. I might meet a guy that I like and that seems to like me but I guess my chess piece is really all the are after. I get tired of the lame lines and the dates that want to turn into last minute booty calls. I met a guy that actually tried to hold me hostage at his house because he figured he was entitled to a little bootay!!! I was having such a Theresa Randall moment from Sugar Hill!! It’s crazy. I love Atlanta, don’t want to move because my family is here, but the population or straight, honest, monogamous, sexy men is definitely on the decline…

Nah, Man…. I was just kidding. I needed to make myself laugh cause this topic today reminds me why I hate it here.

However I have kids & they have their dad that’s here not to forget my entire family who I’m SUPER close with. I wouldnt know what to do If I couldn’t go over my sister house & drink up all her wine, or go to my mom’s eat whatever is on the stove & leave or not to go sit in the studio & hear one of my brothers put it down. To keep a balance & the village I need to help raise my kids. I’m force to stay here & deal with this madness.

And some like to call me selfish, Selfish would have been dipped & never look back.

HOUSTON or BOCA I’m coming!!

The only advice I will give to any young upstart, don’t be like that dumb chick on the Capital One commercial. Don’t keep standing there kissing the same damn frog expecting a better outcome. Go to the other side of the pond or even a different pond for that matter.

When you go to a sports arena you will find players, when you go to the army base you will find soldiers…so know what you are looking for and search accordingly.

If you don’t understand what I am saying…well you will have to ask me a week from Monday because I am out.

Good night everyone. Have a safe weekend and a fun spring break. Thanks for the birthday wish JustMe and back at cha.

Ok blog ladies lets be real about this so called “fixing up” thang. Men are the ones who do the majority of the “fixing up” because we will take a women minus the standard description all women have for their dream man. Besides how many women are stepping to the table with watch you are looking for? As I have said before learn to compete and work for a man like men have learned to compete and work for a lady.

Chocolate P I agree with you about the 85% not being from the “A” and I am willing to bet that majority of the ladies dating problem come from men not born and raised in the “A”.

Well said Blasian I agree. I often think I was born in the wrong era b/c I value commitment, honesty, morals, the courting process, repect for each other, and the man truely being the head of the household… all that 1950’s stuff that doesn’t seem to apply anymore.

People have come to accept infideltiy in relationships and chalked it up to ‘a man will be a man’ and ‘you’re not supposed to be wtih one person forever’

@Longtime Lurkeryou are the prime example of why women have such a hard time finding a GOOD mate. “Keepin it real…tellin it like it is…whatever!” Men need to grow up…ok marriage isn’t the thing for everybody, but stating that a woman has to “go through some wars” with you doesn’t sound like a prize. The prize isn’t for her…the prize is for you. I’m all for standing by my man and handling “our” business, but I’m not out to prove to a man that I have his back…he should know that during our courting period. You finding a wife is the good thing…not her going through ish with you.

Dang, y’all have been off the chain today! Since I don’t live in the ATL anymore, I can’t relate to the dating scene. I’ve said here before that the scene here in NC isn’t terrible, but it ain’t great either! LOL! The biggest problem isn’t the lack of men or women, but the lack of things to do. One has to be very creative, and very open to doing things that might not seem obviously fun to have a good time. The night life isn’t as plentiful as it is down there. One of my biggest complaints. I’m not a club hopper, but I do like to go places where people my age can go to hang out and meet each other.

I guess I need to make a trip to Atlanta soon! LOL!

@Chocolatpeach My view of the “A” is totally different than yours. I haven’t lived here very long, but I’m still enamored with the city. I’ve visited no other city that’s quite like it. I’m from Miami. There, the Hispanic community dominates the scene both politically and economically. Only in Atlanta have I been to a mall and the majority of the merchants and patrons were of African decent. I enjoy fine dining. In most cities, my party would be the only black folks in the restaurant. Here, dayum near every table is us. Never have I seen so many palatial, manicured neighborhoods and every person you see checking the mail box looks like me. Additionally, I’m a people watcher. I often hang out and listen to what others are talking about. The conversations that a lot of our people are having in this city are not drivel. People are discussing pertinent matters of political empowerment, financial security and economic advancement. In this very forum alone, you have the privilege daily of communicating with some of the most well read, intelligent, opinionated folks I have seen in a minute. Must we suffer thru infedelity, verbal, emotional, psychologial torture to prove where we stand with you. How about letting a woman show you her loyalty in an environment where loyalty is nutured and appreciated NOW as opposed to when we have paid sufficient dues, taxes and stipens. I know time is a factor, but better times make staying so much easier and desirable an environment where one would want to progress not use for self gain.

(after speed reading thru the blog) Co-signing on IamPeach’s (whassup girl!?!) 3:11 post. I can’t help but wonder why women feel the need to fix up a man in the first place? When are we going to realize that while our check book might change him physically, our love won’t change him mentally. If he wasn’t the man we wanted when we met him, all the new clothes, fixed teeth (thinking of Bobby Brown’s character in “Two Can Play that Game”) and other material things will only make him into the man another woman will want. Psychologically, if a man felt like he had to fix me up, I’d know that I wasn’t the woman he wanted in the first place. Why stick around for that?

LL Your analogy was one of a struggle. But according to your 4:02 post Let’s talk about real men for a minute, somethin most of y’all ain’t used too! I thought that was a given, we cleared that up this morning……

It’s still the same games just different playas…… why play games at all. Why not recognize a good woman and give her the benefit of the doubt and for once say, you know what I’m gonna chill on the other ladies for a minute and give it love up the same way you want to receive it. Y’all wanna test women, but y’all really need to test yaselves first!

A woman that handlin hers is not gonna let some game playin azzhole test her when he is not living up to the same standards he is setting! WTFE!

Let’s talk about real men for a minute, somethin most of y’all ain’t used too!

LL Dont get it twisted I have dated “quite a few keeping it real brothers* and I am not basing anyone except the suckas as you call them. An they are suckas because they will go broke trying to keep up a image or be down for the flash and glam when they barely have a pot to p** in nor a window to throw it out of. So before you throw your tail on your shoulders and start bashing the women on this blog take into account that a majority of the women and men are atleast on this blog willing to discuss and learn hopefully from each other about relationships. That takes character to sit and gleam knowledge from the other sex and admit that guess what we really dont know that much about how men think anymore than men know all there is to know about how women think. Maybe you are sleep deprived because you are living in a fantasy world if you think you have ever woman black or white figured out and can lump us all into one group.

Musing i’m just asking. Seriously though, men wan to know that a woman has his back, I get that. Women want to know the same thing too. So if a woman is to stand by her man through thick and thin before til death do us part, can a man give a woman a reason to HAVE his back. If y’all start out with the indescresions errry now and then, is that really having a womans back or is that having your cake and eating it too? Or is it playing the game with the good girl on ya side until YOU get ready to act right and have HER back. How long is she supposed to wait for that to happen?

Seems like I kicked up a little dirt. Lets clarify. First, for the most part, ladies you are no longer a prize ( see note below). I know thats hard to grasp but its true. Times have changed and some of you are officially trash. Ask a close honest friend and they’ll tell you. Please sit down first. For so many years it has been the guys who were called dogs. Ladies, you must have figured that if you cant “beat em join em”. The difference between us is that you are giving away your essence. When a man sleeps with you he doesn’t roll over and feel used or less than he should feel. He doesn’t have incesurity issues that the next lady is going to spend 3 years working on (I hope at least). He has just conquered the world at your expense. If he’s smart for 95% of you he’ll clean up and say goodbye, forever. Now ladies, your response will be that some of you can play the screw game and it doesn’t bother you. If you were going to type that you’ve already lost. STOP. No matter how complex life seems to get it really is simple. Ladies, you are measured by how much care you give. We are measured by how well we can provide. Big boobs, stunning looks, they all help but a gorgeous non-caring woman is called LONELY. A brother who can’t provide(on whatever level he sees fit) should be.

When I say “smell ___” I mean the fun you had today will be paid for by the unlucky chap that has to deal with all the issues that that fun cost you. And it does cost. You think its fun today but you do pay. Most of you create elaborate lies to cover up your past but it is obvious to “EVERY” brother you meet. Thats why he sniffs and moves on. He may act like he doesn’t know but truth be told he doesn’t care. He has classified you as a good lay at best. You are never going to be cherished because you didn’t cherish yourself first. As a matter of fact, if he does give you more than a few moments “YOU” start thinking “he” must be a loser for not seeing whats obvious. NOTE: Some ladies will read this and instantly know this doesn’t apply to them.

My recommendation, close your legs and open your mind. Preserve your essence and dole it out like its gold. Remember, if its not gold to you its not to me either. Nobody gets excited about buying a used car, and yes, we all see the mileage. Quit thinking your gonna smooth over your past and that some dream guy is going to accept you with all with all those bones in your closet. Try replacing bones with skills (skills are tools that aide you in achieving your desired goals). Develope yourself where a guy you meet will think of you as something more than the next notch. Also learn that not everyone should have your gold. You can’t give it away and keep it too. And if you think its going to better in another city your fooling yourself. It was never the city, its you. The guys have finally figured out they no longer have to pay top dollar for low budget chicks. KFC will do just fine. Dating has just flatlined.

The truth, while I agree with 99% of what you said, I disagree on one point. You mention that men don’t have insecurity issues that the next woman won’t have to deal with. That’s not true. It’s their inherent insecurity that leads them to the player lifestyle. Men, too, give away their essence. While we do a better job of hiding our insecurities, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. We act like we can go out and do our thing and it doesn’t bother us. However, when it’s just guys talking honestly, they’ll admit that they really do want to find a good woman and settle down. The problem? They’ve played so much, they don’t know how to be real for one woman. The cycle can only be broken by them following the same advice you gave to the women.

Morning ALL Guess we are a select few over here in the BLB!!

On topic, men don’t have insecurity issues that the next woman won’t have to deal with so not true! My ex-SO had big insecurity issues that he brought into our relationship. I was so tired of having to do things (justify things, be readily available all the time) when I hadnt done anything! We all have issues it just depends on how well you deal with them.

Lady J, when it comes down to brothas that you’re cool with, yeah men talk. Now they don’t talk feelings and stuff like that, but they talk about their lifestyle and muse about what the other side must be like. They talk about stuff that they’d never admit to a woman. Except, of course, if they’re coming out. That remains in the dark. I don’t know about white guys, but among brothas, that’s one thing that is never discussed.

April 2, 2007 10:19 AM | Link to this

Good Morning Everyone!!

I think truth was spittin some real truth…I often say that you have to be the type of woman that will attract the type of man that you desire. I know that I want a successful, Christian, family-oriented, funny, loving man…and I had to ask myself what type of woman will not only attract him…but keep him. So I had to sharpen my weaknesses…like cooking and nurturing a man. But it didn’t take a desire to want a good man to make me want to be a better person…that starts and ends with God

My pastor has always taught that the the secret weapon that a woman has is her femininity. It is what has brought kings to their knees and render them defenseless. Over the years that has been replaced by hoochieness and I think that’s what truth is referring to. I don’t think it’s any great revelation to say keep your legs closed. We as women have been taught that ever since we were young girls. Some of us just think that we can negotiate sex for something bigger…commitment, ring, love,…or temporary pleasure! I know it’s men out there who say they won’t wait…and that’s cool too, because there are plenty who will….See when the guys on this blog are talking about a real man I don’t hear them talking about how real mean have standards and won’t just lay with anyone…

Just to piggy back Got that?, men talk about more than women would think. Of course it done in typical male fashion, short, precise, to the point. The thing that we don’t do is, advise, grown men don’t really tell each other men what to do, you might give your take on the subject if asked, but its not the “catty” kind of talk women have. Typically, men talk this way with only their best friends, 10-15 years or better. Every now and then you have to have a conversation about life and real ish for balance, the rest of time its cars, booze, a women…LOL (no particular order)

What up QC

Slim So let me ask you this. If guys are really wanting that one-in-a-million good chick, then why do you all come off wanting to hit the skins all the time.

Let answer this for you. From the time that a man has his first piece of “puddy”, he is forever changed. We love “puddy” and will make an attempt if we feel the possibility. The thing is, over time, many of us have had a variety experiences with women that has tailored our approach toward trying to get the cooch. We are like this because our experience has taught us that we can be.

The way to find out if she is one-in-a-milion is to treat her the same as all the rest and she’ll let you know if she’s different. Finding out whether a woman is great catch really isn’t up to us, its up to the lady in question.
