Dream on

I recently had an incredibly intense dream about my first serious boyfriend, the guy who I dated years ago, through high school and college. In the dream, which was very detailed and realistic, we were getting married, I was talking to his parents and friends about the engagement, we were picking out a ring, etc.
My friend Malia says she has dreamed about exes for night after night after a breakup, so I guess I am not alone, although I felt like it was unusual that it happened so long after the fact — I rarely think of him anymore. After the dream, feeling shaken, I went to look online at some dream interpretation sites to see what it all meant.
While I found a lot of interesting ideas, this was one that I found especially resonant: “Either way, dreaming about your ex-romance does not necessarily predict future involvement. It may be wish fulfillment, reliving memories, or working out old issues … We learn about ourselves through others, and probably our most valuable possessions are our relationships.”
I also found an interesting article about dream interpretation from Shape magazine that said this: “Learning how to interpret dreams may be a key to understanding your partner and, thus, a better romantic partnership, according to research that compared 40 unmarried couples’ satisfaction with their relationships. Half the couples were asked to interpret their own and their partners’ dreams and how they related to their relationship. At the end of the study, women who’d done this said they felt more empathy for their partner and were happier with their relationship than women who didn’t do dream interpretation were. (Unfortunately, there seemed to be no such effect on men.)”
I have also had the experience of having a sexual or romantic dream about someone I know, usually casually, and then feeling totally weird when I see them in person the next time — it’s almost like they know! Malia confirmed this is something she goes through too. How about y’all?

Oh Laney if I put any stock in my dreams I’d be rattling around the desert in a pick up truck with a beautiful cowboy I met about seven years ago.
I’m of two minds: dreams are junk food for the subconcious OR dreams in some way represent your hidden desires.
I know that the dream I had the other night where I was in ancient Egypt and in a temple of some sort was of the junk food variety.
And I know the dreams I have of the ocean represent my desire for peace and inner harmony….

I think many of the chicks who read this blog have had dreams of hooking up with ol Biff. Cassie for sure.
I think when chicks run into a real man it excites them in ways that really hit them after spending their time with metrosexual pansies like so many chicks on this blog seem to do.
As a side note, you chicks shouldn’t be worried about having strange dreams, etc., due to the way your brains function. It would seem perfectly normal for you to have them seeing how it works when you are awake.

Good Morning ALL
I have had a few dreams in the past when I was in a relationship about me and my mate. Depending on what’s going on in the relationship at the time I have my dreams and what is depicted in my dream I look to my dreams as a sign…then some dreams are just fun dreams, where I feel I shouldn’t ponder the things that happened in my dream.
Just a few weeks ago, this guy I had met last year sometime…wasn’t really feeling him so I stopped talking to him. Anyhow, he called me cause he had a dream of us engaging into some sexual activities…I was like okay buddy, wasn’t really sure what to say cause I had never thought of doing anything sexually with him ever. He really liked me but like I said I wasn’t feeling him, so I was kind of surprise of him dreaming of us engaging in such activities and then the fact that he called to tell me about his dream…

On topic: How much stock do you put in dreams as a predictor of your emotions and feelings about your love life? Not a lot!! LOL I just look at my dreams as just that, dreams. Most are great but I dont read too much into it. I have had this one dream though every year for as long as I can remember. Its about my wedding day and I can see everything clearly except the groom’s face. I have wondered why that dream keeps coming up, and it always happes exactly the same way.

Dreams are windows into your subconcious. Think of your subconcious compared to your concious mind in terms of it being a lot larger. Consider that everything you ever saw, heard, experienced or felt is remembered, in your subconcious if not your concious mind. Seek to tap into your subconcious as much as you can.
Laney, dreaming about marrying your ex is symbolic of similarities between that relationship and one you’re in now, or one you’re contemplating, and a feeling that issues with the past relationship are ones that you’ve resolved.

I had a dream about a famous rock star many years ago. I was a fan of the band but didn’t think about him “that way”. But after the dream, I checked him out at their next concert; I have continued to have dreams of him over the years - not sexual, but bumping into him here or there, at a party, etc. Saw him in concert several times over the years; finally met him a few months ago. Don’t know why we have certain dreams, and I’m not religious, but the bible puts a lot of import on dreams and visions, and I think it is important to pay attention to them. I have a couple of “dream guides,” which I take with a grain of salt. We’ll see what happens with the rock star…

On topic. Sometime if I’m waffling on a decision regarding a so I’ll have a dream that will kind of make the decision for me. I don’t so much attribute it to the dream as much as I probably went to bed thinking of the decision and had that on my mind. More often than not my dreams involve me, my so, and another female doing some notty notty.
Ladies of WLB that hair flip is fly. Don’t stop doing what you do but make sure you’ve washed your hair. We’d hate for you to be fippin dandruff all over blogsville.

Wassup party people? I’s back!
I have a recurring dream about a tornado that I see heading toward where I am, and no one in the room is paying attention to me when I’m screaming that we need to take cover. They continue to watch tv, eat, whatever. I’ve looked it up, and it has something to do w/ feeling out of control.
I’ve had dreams about exs or guys I was interested in, but I agree the most bizarre ones are about the ones I never really thought I was interested in. And yes Laney it is weird when you have a special dream about someone and then you see them the next day…like dang, I didn’t know you could put it down like that! LOLOL!

I was dating a guy who I was never really sure of. We got along great although he was sneaky & secretive. While out on a date he asked me could he give his number to this woman at the next table for business purposes (he is a real estate agent). I know that this woman had been flirting. I could read it all in his face that something was going on while my back was to her. I said HELL 2 THE NAW & cursed his azz out all the way home. I had 3 dreams back to back that night about me finding out about all his dirt. One of the dreams involved him entertaining other women in my house. I found out the very next day that he had did this to a previous woman down in Miami years earlier.
When it come to cheating you have dogs and wolves. A Wolf will cheat with his woman’s relative, neighbor, friend, coworker and even take it to his woman’s house. In my 15yrs of dating, I had never come across a wolf until I met him. To this day I don’t have a police record, not even a moving violation. To keep my record clean I had to cut him loose.

Depends. If I know him already, and there are reasons that his physical/personality attractive-ness didn’t catch my interest, then probably not. But, I didn’t know him, and just wasn’t paying that much attention to him before the dream, it might pique my interest.

What happens when you meet someone and things seem to be moving really fast? Do you go with it if you like them? What if you’re not sure? Do you do things to try to slow the pace down? I thought men were more cautious in these situations than women. What do y’all think?

ForReal Now, there you go. What gave you this impression? Something I said? Or didn’t say? I think I’m just being cautious ‘cause it’s not a good thing to think you’re vibing with someone, and then one day realize that it’s not what you thought it was. Then you’re left thinking “did I allow things to go too fast?” or “maybe I should have taken more time before jumping in head first”. I know me, I’m very spoiled and very affectionate, and if I allow it, we’ll be all wrapped up in each other in record time. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not always a wise move.
