Doing It Like A Professional

In a society that rewards morally questionable behavior, it is not all that shocking to see the results of a recent survey that says among 435 individuals surveyed,27 percent of men and 14 percent of women were willing to trade favors or gifts for sex.. That’s right, in college, when you are supposed to be broke, getting a few things through the so called “socioeconomic currency system” is a real option for them.

The reality is that mixing business for some pleasure happens on the dating scene too. I know men and women that “barter” their looks or bodies in exchange for all kinds of perks, gifts, jewelry, etc. I have also seen this play out in the workplace.

Have you ever used your looks or your body to get ahead at work?

Have you ever bartered sex for services or material things? Did it ever make you feel uncomfortable? What do you think are the pros and cons of this type of arrangement?

What do you think about the socioeconomic currency system on the dating scene? Is it a minefield for drama and bad karma? Or do you think that all is fair in sex and bartering?

Good rainy morning Good People, I know men and women that “barter” their looks or bodies in exchange for all kinds of perks, gifts, jewelry, etc. I’m going into left field here-isn’t that the same as getting all dolled and go to the bar/club and accepting drinks/food?

By SlimOne

August 26, 2008 8:47 AM | Link to this

MIL I think that only applies when your intent is to get dolled up going to a bar/club for the sole purpose of getting someone to buy you drinks or food. When I go out, my intent is to have a good time, let my hair down, and possibly meet someone i’d be interested enough in getting to know better outside of the bar/club or whatever venue i’m in at the time. Cause more often than not, I end up buying 98% of my own drinks.

WiseD I had a discussion with my friend girls I guess about a year or so ago and we were talking about the cost of sex these days. What we were discussing is totally different from what you are talking however it was somewhat the same.

We debated the issue of the cost being emotional all the way down to material for some. The conversation started when I stated we all pay in some way or the other. It was quite interesting and informative to say the least hearing how other women view the price of sex.

Rather than go into that, I am going to see where this discussion goes.

2C i’m just keeping it real. I’ve heard plenty of chicks show boating on what dude done paid this bill or bought her this or whatever, but they don’t go advertising what they did for Him. There are some that’ll put it off on merely the dude being sprung but i’m willing to bet they lickin dookie chutes, gargling & swallowin.

I will agree with Raqi that the trade off for sex is not always monetary or materialist. I’d say that a lot of it is an emotional trade off. I can speak for myself that I had an issue with that after my tragic past events that i’ve briefly described on here in the past.(molested & raped) The situation had me flucked up, wires crossed in the head…so I went through a period where i felt guilty if i didn’t mess around with a certain person I was with. (thanks goodness I didn’t get buck wild with it but I felt that if a dude wasn’t trying to get some that I didn’t feel valuable)

So with our young girls today, I think they are searching for validation ..trading sexual favors to feel wanted, needed, special etc.

raqi I didn’t get too deep too early did I? lol

Morning everybody!

Have you ever used your looks or your body to get ahead at work?

Have you ever bartered sex for services or material things?

No, no, no! A thousand times, NO! I am so totally against this. I do think it brings bad karma, and I believe a have a brain and marketable skills that make it completely unneccesary. I’ve always dressed like a complete L7 at work anyway, just so folks won’t focus on the exterior.

Of course, being from L.A. I have acquantences that barter and make it like an artform! I’ve also seen the ones that got put in bad situations because of it. Just made me all the more firm in my decision.

2C It reminds of a special I saw on one of those news shows like 60 minutes or something. But it was in Thailand and they had young girls..as young as 4 to 5 that were being pimped. They’d ask you if you wanted Yum Yum…sad.

But then you have the gold diggin O’s that tell you they were taught to use what you have to get what you got. I know of a chick right now that doesn’t pay her rent or bills, doesn’t have a job but always out somewhere. She got some overweight dude paying all her bills and he has a key to the apartment she lives in. So I guess whenever he decides to stop by, she gotta do what she gotta do. This chick hasn’t had a job in over 8 years and she like 40+ years old. I don’t know if you’ve ever watched Pimps Up, O’s Down, a documentary on HBO about prostitutes…but they had a few chicks that on there that claimed they were going to retire or ‘get out the game’ on the first show, but when they went to revisit years later, were still doing it…looking old azz hayo, washed up, and cracked out. One chick didn’t even have no top teeth. It takes a special person to fluck & suck random dudes like that.

Is it just me…but I be wondering what the hayo they stuff smell like…can’t be good…definitely can’t be good.

Hello All,

Greetings to you Wisey, I know, it’s been a long minute since I have dipped in on the blog.

Well, to answer the questions, YES and NO. Yes, I have been the receipent of some good loving and picked up a small trinket for Mr. X (a CD, coffe mug, etc). I have also received small tokens after a night/weekend of slaying.

I would not call it bartering, it’s more like appreciation/thoughtfulness. These tokens were never expected by either party, just random parting gifts.

I would also say that their was type of history, some sort of relationship going on, just not sex with random men, no co-workers.

No, I have never used my body or looks to get head at work.

The statistics associated with the topic clearly state that 27% of men and 14% of women otherwise not classified as such are hoes. Period. It’s just a matter of how much they cost.

Is it just me, or does Michelle Obama look way too much like RuPaul? I swear, she and Hillary both look like men in drag; something they have in common, I suppose. Mrs. Obama is better dressed than RuPaul is, at least.

Also, sorry you had to go through what you went through, but thankful you found yourself on the “other side of thru”!

Good morning. Neva eva have I used my body or bartered sexual favors for anything. It never works like the future victim (that what they become) intends. Sooner than later her or his (yes, I’ve seen men do it too) skills and abilities come into play. That’s when someone above both of them calls them to the carpet. I’m not the smartest girl nor the prettiest (in my head I’m a queen), but I’ve seen the stuff end badly everytime from my teens when girls would sleep with the manager for days off, to women in the corporate environment who thinks that is the tried and true way of taking short cuts to get ahead only to be branded amongst their peers and get no respect in the end. Some even label it as hustlin’ like it’s something to be proud of.

Try as I might, I cannot do this! Oh wait…I’ve not tried. Thinkin those who can have found a way to compartmentalize sex as a function of the body separate from other needs requiring feeding. Usually as a defense mechanism or a way to erroneously measure their worth. The fallacy obviously being in tryin to equivocate material things given to amount of esteem s/he holds for you regardless of the lack for self.

If she can’t just see your boxer briefs w/ her panties, maybe raise you a lacey bra without you having to go all in on a car note, electric bill or kids daycare, just fold, man! What y’all are willing to give should be fairly equal or else just sit yo lil hot behind down somewhere…

Isn’t her “value” tied into Chops vs. McDonald’s? Isn’t her “value” tied into sex? Isn’t the root of all our disagreements in this forum some [per]version of this very topic?

Newsbreak, Newsbreak

It was only a matter of time:

Police Reportedly Break Up A Plot To Kill Obama August 26th, 2008 Three suspects were arrested, and guns, bullet-proof vests and drugs were seized. At least three Colorado men, possibly four, have been arrested with rifles, bullet-proof vest, walkie-talkies and camouflage clothes in an alleged plot to kill Sen. Barack Obama, according to reports from news media and law-enforcement agencies. TV station CBS4 reports that the suspects planned to shoot Obama in Denver during his acceptance speech. One suspect was nabbed in Aurora on Sunday, after being stopped by police for swerving in traffic in a rented pickup truck, reports say. Get more details on the plot at BET.com/News.

Get out your rain coats folks.

Every one of you that have ever been in a relationship has bartered what you have for what you want. Thats exactly what a relationship is, a swapping of gifts. A guy provides security (aka money) for comfort (aka azz). It’s been that way since the 1st bruh got an erection and will continue to be so.

Ask any housewife what would happen when she stops skinning. Her resources start dissappearing. Same for a girlfriend/boyfriend or whatever. Ho’ing has always been alive and well. Some folks just don’t ask for much because they don’t feel they have much to offer. Hence the creation of the $2 hoe. LOL

What did you think someone really liked you just because? Hell no, you had something they wanted, whatever that may be.

Everyone expects some benefit from every action they take. Even if it is just to feel good about oneself. That is what compels us to create, endure and mover forward. What we as humans call progress and morals are just more complex ways of doing the same thing, eventually getting (or at least trying to get) what we want whether it be material or emotional. So we all sell it each and every day Think about it and it’s hard to deny.

Regal? Gorgeous? I take that as testimony that men and women have completely different perspectives on what is attractive in a woman. Probably the same goes for what is attractive in a man, although I speculate that there are far fewer men that look like a woman in men’s clothes as compared to women that looks like a man in drag.

There will be more more assasination plots and attempts on Obama, especially if he gets elected. McCain, he’ll just drop dead from old age. That’s why the VP choices are so important, and frankly, Biden was an extremely poor choice.

First off, I’m not Robert Kelly.

Studies have shown the many men that go after young kitty do it because of the belief that she is clean and pure. It boils down to the thought of a woman being used goods.

In general, most men don’t like to know that their woman has a sexual past. (It goes with the thought of who wants a h0.)

@Slim

I’m not ascribing any characteristic traits to one’s motive, I’m merely assessing the basic premise.

Is her value (and for that matter his) assessed in where [they] eat, what [they] do, and when {the process} of intimacy begins?

WD made it very clear yesterday that she makes the choices about who get to taadaazzup.

And respect due, but at the heart of declarations like that is the thought that “I am worth X”.

I am worth your time; I am worth your attention; I am worth more than a piece of azz.

In the same vein, men have the same thought: I am worth more than what I can provide; I am worth more than my job, I am worth more than just taadaazup.

Let’s be real…You have never had your back blown out soooo good that you just happened to out shopping for yourself and suddenly you find yourself migrating to the men’s department. You find yourself looking for a small token for “Mr. Magic”, just because. In your mind, you are careful not to spend too much cause you don’t want to send the wrong message, “I’m going to take care of you.” or let him know “he was working the “Magic Stick” the other night.” Most of all we may not want him to think he “got it like that.” So you pick up a little “sometin’ sometin.

Men, you have been with a lady that seems have a “little something” different. Something a little fresher, newer or she gives a good feeling, not just sex but a little something different. You can’t really describe it, but you like it. So you might wanna pick her up a little something. Nothing that says, “we go together” but just something thoughtful.

Mind you, the recipient is not some RANDOM person. Maybe it’s after the first time you were intimate, after a very good date or just whatever. You present the token without really expecting anything in return. It’s a just because gift. I’m not talking about diamonds, car note money, shoes, suits. I could as simple as his/her favorite candy bar, a DVD they’ve been wanting, a CD you’ll talked about. We all do it….and it’s OK.

Atl Lady actually it used to be worse. Before you had to have a DEFINITE benefit to make that thing worth it. Times were hard and a mate had to have perks. Even the families chipped in to pay the local ho’ing rates. May of been 2 goats or a sheep but the price had to be paid, upfront. Now we’re willing to bet the house on a “feeling” in our chest that may or may not be gas. I can do more with perks than a woozy feeling.

Even further, its not a chick or dude in this room that hasn’t outright gave it up for some “companionship” or not to be lonely or just plain horny.

Slimgina those cats heading over there for the baby booty are looking for the power, not sex. They could get that here. Some cats look their whole life to feel powerful, and the only person they can dominate is a child. A dude like that would never be happy with a woman because they’d both know how weak he is.

Melo I didn’t know you were putrid maladorous. I’m hurt you didn’t tell me. LOL

If the assasins got caught they were mere amateurs. nothing to worry about. The big boys are gonna pay a real top notch dude and he won’t get caught, at least not before.

Michelle looks like a chick you could have knocked off after a barbeque. She has a sharp mind though and can handle that madness. I give her props for looking down the barrel she’s facing. Everyone is looking for something to pull out on her to discredit Obama. So far she’s bulletproof.

Lake Lanier better be full after this. LOL

So speak for yourself man.

Personally, I thought your earlier statement was the most ignorant statement from a person who usually is better than that. Women come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and attitudes. There is no one picture of a woman. Each man has his own. We may have similar pictures, but not the same. To compare her to man in drag is just down right wrong. In my eyes, that is an afront to my mom and grandma if your definition of a woman isn’t as such. Just wrong plain wrong.

Besides, what’s with the media wanting to make Michelle Obama into the next Jackie Kennedy, what with expecting her to set style trends and all. After Hillary, what American wants is a First Lady that will sit down and shut up!

Poppa you and ol girl go a round last night? I’ve never seen you put foot to azz. LOL

Kinda on topic.

A young boy went to his father and asked,’What’s the difference between Potentially and Realistically?

The father answered, ‘Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Denzel Washington for one million dollars. Then go ask your sister if she would sleep with Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs for one million dollars. Then come back and tell me what you have learned.

So the boy went to his mother and asked, ‘Would you sleep with Denzel Washington for one million dollars?’ The mother replied, ‘Of course I would. I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity like that!’ Then the boy went to his sister and asked, ‘Would you sleep with Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs for one million dollars?’ The girl replied, ‘Oh my gosh! I’d be nuts to pass that up!’

The boy thought about it and went back to his dad. His father asked him if he’d found out the difference between ‘potentially and realistically.’ The boy replied, ‘Yes. ‘Potentially’ we’re sitting on two million dollars, but ‘realistically’ we’re living with two ho’s!

ABC I disagree. I think what America wants is a first lady who isn’t a media hound with an agenda like Hillary. Don’t get me wrong I like Hillary and respect her a lot, but she thought being feminen (sp) was a draw back to what she wanted to accomplish. She didn’t want to do what other women did in her capacity which was talk to the wives of the husbands in power and have them change their husbands points of view. How do you think Tipper Gore got the now infamous Parental Advisory placed on music? She wanted to take men on, on their turf, and get it done that way. Thus the arise of her infamous pants suits and show no emotions other than anger. That’s how I knew that tear dropping mess during the primaries was a croc. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Comparing her to a man is still wrong. Dead wrong. Period point blank. You compared her to a man in drag. You mentioned nothing of her makeup.

Once again, people (women are included) come in different shapes, sizes, colors and attitudes.

You are just prejudging her based on appearance, and it is wrong.

BTW, you don’t speak for all of America.

I don’t know if I am for Obama or not, right now. I am more of a Libertarian kind of guy, but Barr’s chances of winning are slim. Those PUMAs have cemented my disdain for the Democrats, but if Mcain is the best that the elephants can offer they aren’t very good either.

Man, I never watch news on television. I don’t even really know who Sean Hannity is or what he looks like. TV news is next to worthless and tends to obscure political news more than disseminate any worthwhile information.

Seems to me the Democratic Convention is nothing but pandering to the TV talking heads, who in turn fabricate the next news rotation’s pointless drivel.

It’s like you all have a crush on Michelle Obama or something. What’s up with that? All the talk about jacked up grilles around here, I suppose you haven’t noticed her lack of orthodontic care?
