Symone replaced actress Patina Miller, who was nominated for a Tony and an Olivier Award for the role of disco diva wannabe Deloris Van Cartier.  Whoopi Goldberg, who was the original Deloris Van Cartier in the hit 1992 film, is producing the musical.
