HAIL A CAB

Grand Marnier, the company behind Navan vanilla cognac, is putting a new spin on safe drinking. To remind cocktail sippers to catch a cab after one too many, it's created the Navan Yellow Cab. Navan hitches a ride with pineapple purée, lime juice and simple syrup.

Every Monday at Trader Vic's in the Hilton downtown (255 Courtland St. N.E., Atlanta) bartender Joel Lindsay does what he does best — improvise. Slide him $6 on Mystery Drink Mondays and he whips up a fruity concoction to soothe that inner savage. It may be sweet; it may be sour, but if Lindsay's track record is any indication, we bet it's strong. Other weekly drink specials at Vic's include Mai Tai Thursdays when Mai Tais are $4.50 all night, and FogCutter Fridays when Samoan FogCutters are $4.50 from 5 to 7 p.m.

APRIL SHOWERS

April showers supposedly bring May flowers. But according to the Webtender site (www.webtender.com), it's an excuse to pour the April Rain. Over ice, shake 2 ounces of vodka, and 1/2 of an ounce each of lime juice cordial and vermouth. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a lime peel.
