Suntory's Zentini

Published on: 06/30/2005

REACHING ZEN

The folks at Suntory offer a new liqueur direct from the Land of the Rising Sun. According to the manufacturer, Zen green tea liqueur uses green tea leaves plucked from Kyoto, Japan, along with other ingredients including lemongrass. It hopes to transcend into the U.S. cocktail scene with drinks like the Zentini, a mix of Zen, Stoli Citros vodka and lime juice.

KNUCKLE SANDWICH

Bartender Sam Livers (pronounced lie-vers) gives patrons a wallop to the liver at Luby's Sports Bar & Grill (1098 Herrington Road, Lawrenceville). It sometimes comes in the form of a Bare Knuckle Bomb. He pours Ç ounce each of Jameson Irish whiskey and Bailey's Irish Cream into a shot glass, then drops the shot, glass and all, into a pint glass half-filled with Bare Knuckle Stout draft beer. "It tastes a lot like chocolate milk when you chug it," Livers says.

FRUIT FIX

Been dieting on South Beach or Atkins in time for beach season? If you can slide into that coveted swimsuit, then maybe its time to reward yourself with something fruity. The mixologists behind Beefeater's Wet gin suggest the Babylon. Two ounces of Wet, 1 ounce of Midori melon liqueur, 2 ounces of strawberry juice and ? ounce of sour mix are mixed in a glass with ice. The remainder is filled with lemonade. Sounds like a sinful way to blow a diet.
