Apple Pie MartiniPublished on: 11/10/2005
PRIME PIE
Although the Apple Pie Martini may have originated up North, it would definitely be at home in Ellijay, Ga., where apples rule. Michael Waterhouse (no relation) at Dylan Prime in New York crafted this libation with vodka, apple schnapps and maple syrup. As if the syrup ain't enough, the glass is rimmed with cinnamon sugar.
NEW AT CANOE
Brisk iced tea goes hand in hand with brisk fall weather. Canoe (4199 Paces Ferry Road S.E., Atlanta) has a couple of souped-up versions with the season in mind. Its Mint Julep Tea is a different slant on the Southern classic with crushed mint, Maker's Mark bourbon, turbinado sugar and Canoe's home-brewed tea. The Spiced Tea lets Captain Morgan's spiced rum set sail with lemonade, triple sec and freshly squeezed orange juice.
DYSFUNCTIONAL THANKSGIVING
Planning the Thanksgiving menu? The Drinksmixer Web site (www.drinksmixer.com) describes Turkey Trot punch as the perfect "Thanksgiving tradition for the truly dysfunctional family." After sipping on a batch made of two cups cranberry juice, two cups 7-Up soda and one cup Wild Turkey bourbon, that chattering aunt might just push the verbal envelope.
