Very 'Grateful' — for a tie-dyed drink

Published on: 08/16/2007

Before ordering a Grateful Dead at Sidelines Sports Bar & Grille (1440 Roswell Road, Marietta), we imagined what the tie-in would be. Naturally, it was a tie-dye. Bartenders shake together a powerful mix of vodka, gin, rum, tequila, Triple Sec and sour mix. To add some color, in comes splashes of DeKuyper Razzmatazz liqueur and Blue Curaçao. This gives it a two-tone effect. The sweetness — akin to a rocket ship popsicle — perfectly masks the liquor.

POPPIN' MARTINI

Joe's Crab Shack (locations include 2868 Chapel Hill Road, Douglasville) never shies away from a gimmick. Its latest comes from behind the bar. The Rockin' Poppin' Pomegranate Martini starts off like any other. But the staff garnishes the top with Pop Rocks candy. The popping confection helps sips come to life.

MORE TO TASTE AT ROY'S

At Roy's (3475 Piedmont Road N.E., Suite 120, Atlanta), most of the cocktail attention goes to the Hawaiian Martini. But other specialty libations deserve shout-outs, too. The 1988 — a tribute to Roy's debut joint in Honolulu — brings together grapefruit and pomegranate juices, Absolut Ruby Red vodka, SoHo Lychee liqueur and Patrón Citrónge liqueur. And the Ginger Daiquiri boasts a rum-infused muddle of fresh ginger and pineapple.
