Offbeat options, including cheese and triviaPublished on: 01/04/2007
ONE CHEESY DATE
Love cheese? Don't reach for that Barry Manilow CD; we're talking literal. Chef Michael Tuohy drops the science of cheese at the Woodfire Grill's Cheese Club event. He'll teach you how to buy it, serve it and store it. Tuohy will also pop a cork or two and talk about wine pairings. And this installment of the Cheese Club focuses on blue cheeses. Thankfully, it's not Limburger.
• THE 411: $20. 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9. Woodfire Grill, 1782 Cheshire Bridge Road, Atlanta. 404-347-9055, www.woodfiregrill.com.
TRIVIAL PURSUITS
Things get heated at Ledo Pizza for Team Trivia on Wednesdays and Saturdays when teams go for the throat for house cash prizes. Winners score $50 for first place, $20 for second and $10 for third. It's basically Trivial Pursuit come to life with a variety of questions about history, science, sports, movies, music and more. There's no size limit for teams, which makes it a perfect outing for large groups. While mulling over answers, munch on menu items like thin crust pizza and stromboli, or belly up to the full bar.
• THE 411: Free. 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays; 8 p.m. Saturdays. Ledo Pizza, 5450 Peachtree Parkway, Norcross. 770-449-1500, ledopizza.com.
A BOWL FULL OF SPECIALS
Most of us have taken down the Christmas trees, packed away the menorahs and cleaned up the confetti. But college bowl games are still alive and kicking after the holidays. Cheyenne Grille and Sports Bar broadcasts the last of the televised games on 40 screens. And it has specials to boot, with prices starting at $20.07 for two burgers and a pitcher of beer through Jan. 10. And Seagram's shooters are always $3. The last remaining games include the International Bowl (Jan. 6), the GMAC Bowl (Jan. 7) and the BCS National Championship (Jan. 8).
