SPIRITS
Downtown Peach JuelpPublished on: 07/13/2006
WHAT A PEACH
Most special events have their own T-shirt. How many have their own cocktail? During Downtown Atlanta Restaurant Week (July 24-30), a bevy of restaurants offer three-course meals priced at $26 each. And all participants are set to pour the Peach Julep, the signature libation created by staff from City Grill and Dailey's. As the title suggests, it's heavy on the peach, with peach vodka and peach schnapps. For a list of participating restaurants, log on to www.atlantadowntown.com.
EASY BEING GREEN
Last week, Spirits mentioned a summertime cocktail featuring iced tea. Even though it's scorching outside, we don't want to leave green tea fans out in the cold. The Green Tea Martini combines 1 ounce of iced green tea, 1 1/2 ounces of Stoli Citros vodka and 3/4 ounce of triple sec. Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. Now if we could just find the number to that Chinese restaurant.
MARGARITA TO A 'TEA'
While we're on the subject, iced tea goes well in margaritas, too. Loco, you say? The folks behind Sauza tequila beg to differ. Take 1 1/2 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of simple syrup, 3/4 ounce of lime juice and 2 ounces of iced tea. Mix in a tall glass with ice, and turn that afternoon siesta into tea time.
