Jack Bauer 24-Ever!

BUHM-bum! BUHM-bum! BUHM-bum!

Sorry, that’s the best the Serf can do when it comes to imitating the ticking “24” clock. There’s nothing like the original, and fortunately, there are only (check your watch and insert correct number here) hours left till Season 6 kicks off Sunday night at 8 on Fox.

Not to sound ghoulish, but one of the things that makes “24” so good is its willingness to kill off key characters in order to keep the storyline moving and believable (well, in the let’s-face-it fairly unbelievable universe that is “24”). Jack Bauer’s not going anywhere (see our “24” story online to hear the show’s executive producer all but promise as much); but you can pretty much count on 1, 2 or 107 other major players biting the dust in a typical season.

Who do you think might be, uh, “eliminated” in Season 6? Which characters would you like to see go most or least. Or come back from the dead (Edgar, sniff!)

Tell us here. And take our “24” quiz on ajc.com if you haven’t done so already. Heck, take it again and see how well you score the second time around.

Tick…Tick…Tick…

Correct me if I’m wrong, but 24 is about this idiot named Jack Bauer who, because he’s in the employ of the intel/counter-terror sector of the US goverment, loses his wife, daughter, unborn child, various friends and sometimes his health. At any given time his government has betrayed, disavowed, implicated, deserted and targeted him. The best he can ever personally hope to aquire is a paycheck or a pardon. Not only has he not ever become disloyal but has not even become…CYNICAL! Not once! Amazing

What they should do is make the actors sing karaoke cover songs and then have them pair up with d list nobodies to dance the gay a** night away. You want to talk ratings bonanza! Every simple-minded pathetic idiot these networks pray upon would be giggling like a bunch of thirteen year old girls. And to top it off, every time things get hectic and life threatening have David Beckham kick a soccer ball bomb into the bad guys lair. Read a book you bunch of half-wits.

Bumped into the show 2 seasons ago - on a Holiday week-end marathon. 24 hours straight of “24”. And I have been hooked ever since. * I LOVE this SHOW. Jack Bauer is my Hero*. Every time I see “David Palmer” on the Allstate Commercials — I think of this show! Bring back Palmer and his scandalous wife Sherri!

JACK IS BACK! This is the best show on television. Sutherland is phenomenal and so believable he’s offended some people here on this forum…how idiotic. It’s a television show, and if I’m going to indulge, I’d prefer to do it with “24” rather than with the simple minded who can’t keep up with intellectual story lines and who obviously prefer “Scrubs”…..

Yes..the president is a 35 yo “colored”. Obviously if thats the only thing you are worried about while watching this great show, you’re stuck in the 60’s. And by the way, we no longer use the word “colored”. Fool.

Great show tonight…tomorrow will be just as suspenseful. I’m soooo glad we finally have something to watch on TV…I’m sick of reality shows! For all the true 24 fans, let’s discuss the show and ignore the comments made by that idiot. There’s one on every blog!

Awesome! Whew, how intense was this, can’t wait until tomorrow evening.

We didn’t start watching the show in the first few years but once my neighbor told us about it and we watched it we were hooked!

Maybe if everyone watched the show, they would understand why you cannot “negotiate” with terrorists!

Jack Bauer rules!

Yeah, I didn’t understand the ‘give Jack up and they’ll stop the bombing.’ Like, hello? What are they going to ask for next? What idiots work in govt where they are going to actually negotiate?
That was definitely one of the more unbelievable things I saw this evening.

In any event, someone tell the people on this board that that was actually the second black president on this show.

I don’t have any shows I watch regularly, but 24 captured my attention last year and I was not disappointed with the suspense to start this season. The old “bit the neck” ploy was a little much for my stomach, but Jack does keep me on the edge of my seat.

I know after a couple of seasons it gets harder to write new scripts but come on. Selling out America’s hero? Every series becomes more far fetched. Get some new writers. Go Jack!

24 has been the best show on TV for the last 5 or 6 years hands down. If you’ve missed prior seasons rent them at the video store…there’s nothing like watching an entire season in two or three days!

Tonight’s show was truly exciting! Man Jack is bad! I love that character and what K Sutherland has done with it. I sure wish there was a way to bring back President David Palmer, that was a great run, huh? They never cease to amaze me these writers, GREAT action…biting the jugular, WHO DOES THAT? JACK and man is he back! If we all had friends as loyal as Chloe…….

Colored? Why you racist pig! You represent the type of terrorist this country NEEDS to eliminate. Continue to live in the past and I’m sure it will consume you.

To everyone else, the show is great, but the 1st hour of last season will be hard to top in terms of excitement.

JFK…you have disgraced those initials! Hopefully you’re blog is just a joke, if not, your jugular needs to be bitten by Jack Bauer also..and its a shame that you even mutter those words on MLK day! What a dork. P.S. the season premiere was great!

Wow! I loved the new episode and I am glad that no one major got killed this time (at least not yet). I think it will take a while for us to get used to the many new faces…most everyone else was killed off last season! At least Curtis is back!

And to the ignorant MF who is staining the name of JFK on this board…the previous president on the show was “white” and HE was the one who was helping the terrorists…maybe if we got a black president for real he would be the one to find bin Laden, we could squash this war and bring the troops back home where they belong!!

The city of Los Angeles named a street after Jack Bauer. A man walked across it, so Jack Bauer killed him. No one crosses Jack Bauer.

JFK wake up and look at your calendar - it’s 2007 man. Next year Barack Obama, a “colored” man who’s only 45 will most likely be running for pres.

Furthermore David Palmer is what got me hooked when the show started. He was and still is the epitmay of what an American president should be - integrity, intelligence, pride, patriotism, loyalty, honesty, man I could go on and on. Watching his portrail of the president only makes me wish we had a real life candidate like that.

24 is easily the best show on tv in many years.

I have been watching 24 since the first season but I am getting tired of it. It’s the same old story, Jack tells the people at CTU about something, they don’t believe him, then it comes out that he was right. He’s always right. We know he can’t die, he has signed on for two more seasons. The first 2-3 years were the best, but it has gone downhill since.

First let me say I am a huge 24 fan. Second, something Lisa said close to the top of the thread got me thinking. Sorry I can’t remember the names but the terrorist who tortured Jack was “negotiated” with by the government. Didn’t that go against our “We do not negotiate with terrorists” stance? This seems like a major hole or mistake in the writing now that I think about it. I’m guessing that dude would have to be on the terrorist watch list at the very least. Wouldn’t that be enough to say we cannot negotiate with that guy? Also, what about dude that Jack saved? He is a known terrorist. I don’t care if he is claiming he means well now, he cannot be trusted. Jack is going against reason here. Since when are all crimes forgiven when you say you are not going to do them anymore?

It’s a good how, but I’m a little tired of the left wing nonsense that wants to keep convincing us that white folks (and even the President) are involved in the terrorism. Every time we begin to think a Muslim (gasp!) is responsible, we’re forced to apologize. Right. Give me a break.

I finally decided to watch the show last night and thought it was cool. I had not seen an entire episode until last night, because I felt like I’d be lost since I never catch the premieres. So I made a point to watch the premiere last night. To Keith- I think why the “terrorist-turned-mainstream” Assad was saved by Jack is because like he said, a lot of people will fall in line under what he says, if he truly is serious about mainlining his group and he is trying to stop Fayed, the one who tortured Jack. I can’t wait for LOST to come back in a few weeks, also!

After several good seasons, everyone will soon hear critics say what we already know - that these 4 initial episodes were….terrible! The president is too young and a bad actor; his sister is annoying, has poor lines with an annoying subtext/agenda from the writers, and is unbelievable in her ability to call up the President to chat about her social musings; the subplot about the parents is unengaging and weak; the direction overall is poor and casting lacks the past inspiration. After looking forward to this for months, we found ourselves walking away in boredom and annoyance multiple times. This season will be a critical failure but will not significantly hurt viewership until next season. Terrible!
