Momocon: 5 things to do this week in Atlanta

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit downtown Atlanta starting this week for the annual Momocon festival. 

The festival, which focuses on video games, animation, comics and more is just one of several can’t-miss events that will take place throughout metro Atlanta this week.

Attend a game at Suntrust Park

If you still haven’t visited the Atlanta Braves’ new home, you’ll have a chance to do so this week. The Braves are playing the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday through Thursday. 

While you’re in the area, visit one of the new restaurants at Battery Atlanta.

A Day in the Life of Puppet Film

The Center for Puppetry Arts will host a workshop that will teach puppet enthusiasts a few of the techniques that professionals use in film and video production. Learn about how puppet films utilize green screens, equipment and more.

Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Cocktails in the Garden

ABC’s #TGIT night is over, but there are still plenty of reasons to enjoy wine this Thursday. The Atlanta Botanical Garden’s “Cocktails in the Garden” series offers live music and alcohol in a different location of the park every Thursday.

Momocon

Every year fans of “anime/manga, gaming, comics and costuming” converge on Atlanta for Momocon. This year’s festivities kick off on Thursday. Attend panels, autograph signings and more during the four-day event.

Watch a movie in the park at Atlantic Station

Atlantic Station’s Movies in Central Park series continues this week with a screening of the 1991 film “Beauty and the Beast.” Take your family to enjoy this family-friendly film on Thursday.
