DROUGHT RESTRICTIONS are keeping the Dogwood Festival from Piedmont Park this year, but Atlanta's favorite springtime field day won't be deterred, even if it doesn't have a proper patch of grass to perch on. This year at Lenox Square, there are more artists exhibiting than in all years past, representing 37 states as well as a few Canadian provinces. And most of the art, food and entertainment visitors have come to expect — save those Frisbee-catching dogs — will be there.

Finlandia Art Bar. A cushy command-central for the whole festival, this 21-and-older area with an Italian piazza vibe features an interactive virtual art display that allows users to peruse sample works by festival artists, with corresponding booth numbers, all with a specialty cocktail, beer or glass of wine in hand.
Friends of Dogwood. $30 will buy admittance to an artist preview party 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 3 at the Finlandia Art Bar featuring a sneak peak at the work of 100 Dogwood artists, light hors d'oeuvres from Dolce Group restaurants of Atlantic Station, a cheese sampling and two beer or wine drink tickets. Or you can put $30 toward an access pass to the Dogwood Hospitality Tent on any one of the festival days. Inside the VIP area, you'll find: food from Maggianos Little Italy, Roy's and other restaurants; cheese tastings; two beer or wine drink tickets; and use of private onsite restrooms. Roll both events into a package for $50.
