DOGWOOD ISN'T the only fix for the springtime festival jones. Plan your warm weekends around these biggies for the best-of-the-fest season.
• Alpharetta Arts StreetFest: Streets of downtown Alpharetta close to cars and open to artist stands, festival cuisine vendors, jazz and acoustic performers and numerous activities for children, including an interactive area for free painting and paper projects; balloon animals; palm and tarot readings; spin art; toys and more. • Big Shanty Festival: More than 50,000 people are expected at this year's celebration, featuring more than 200 crafters, artisans and food vendors, in addition to live entertainment and children's activities. Also, Big Shanty Soldiers in blue and gray will hold an encampment and conduct weapons firing demonstrations. Free entry. Parade through downtown Kennesaw begins at 9:30 a.m. April 19. • Feria Latina: Stone Mountain's massive celebration of Latino culture, with 12 international performers, including Latin rock bands, tropical music, Mexican mariachi and others. • Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes: Arts and crafts, a street market, parade, live entertainment, dance festival, children's activities and food and beverages vendors fill the streets of this intown neighborhood. Festival is free; Tour of Homes is $15 in advance, $20 at the event. Festival: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. April 26; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. April 27. • Sweet Auburn Spring Fest: "Live Green, Save the Planet" is the theme this year.
