Reach for the sky at Stone Mountain

Imagine an interactive treehouse on steroids. Sky Hike, Stone Mountain Park's new climbing attraction, is a massive structure that allows kids and adults to reach seemingly impossible heights. It's located among the looming trees in the Crossroads section of the park, and opens to the public on May 24.

But you're not just walking to the top of a jumbo fort. You're scaling stuff like Spider-man while brushing by the tops of trees.

Stone Mountain Park
Sky Hike, scheduled to open May 24, has trails 12, 24 and 40 feet off the ground.

Guests begin the trek by slipping into a harness, which is attached to an overhead safety system. They can choose from trails 12, 24 and 40 feet off the ground.

Exploring the structure includes bouncing across suspended wooden bridges, scaling nets and scooting along narrow logs. Other activities include a vertical climbing wall and a winding slide.

Those with a fear of heights may want to opt for something like a movie in the nearby 4-D theater. A one-day adventure pass allows guests to experience this and more than 12 other park attractions.

THE 411: Sky Hike. $12; day pass $20 for ages 3-11, $25 for ages 12 and older. 44-inch height requirement. $8-$10 parking. Stone Mountain Park, U.S. Highway 78 East, Stone Mountain. 770-498-5690, www.stonemountainpark.com.
