Transplanted Canucks get a jump on July Fourth by celebrating Canada Day three days early. Meehan's Public House in Sandy Springs is host for the bash, which begins at 3 p.m. June 28. Free street hockey courtesy of the Atlanta Thrashers takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. Kids can enjoy other games and activities, too. Molson Canadian beer will be flowing from the tap and bartenders are set to pour Bloody Caesars (vodka and Clamato juice-based cocktails). The menu goes Canadian, too, with dishes including poutine (French fries smothered in cheese curd and gravy), tourtiere (meat pie) and Prince Edward Island mussels steamed in Canadian lager. Members of the Canadian Consulate will be in the house. After 9 p.m., guests must be 21 and older. Live music from Atlanta Kitchen Party cranks at 10, and the party lasts until 2 a.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Amateur Hockey League Foundation.
