Looking to enjoy the perfect summer cocktail without going to the bar?

Jerry Slater, the former owner of beloved Atlanta cocktail hot spot H. Harper Station, wants to make that possible with his series of cocktail classes, “Lounge Life! Summer Cocktail Pop-Up with Jerry Slater at Emory Point." It begins Wednesday, June 8, according to Emory Point's website.

The expert mixologist closed the doors to his Reynoldstown cocktail bar in April, so he is doling out a variety of special cocktail recipes for those cocktailians hoping to make one of their former H. Harper favorites at home.

The classes on the history of cocktails, mixology technique and cocktail etiquette will take place every Wednesday and Saturday this month in an intimate, informal setting.

Here's a rundown of the cocktail classes Slater will teach this month:

Classic Cocktails for Summer (June 8 and 11)
Jerry Slater will guide you through the history of cocktails and spirits in America, selecting the best tools for your home bar, as well as answer all the questions about mixing drinks you've always wanted to ask your favorite bartender. Drinks featured: Classic Daiquiri, Bramble and Mint Julep.

Wet Hot American Whiskey (June 15 and 18)

Gain a great understanding of the varied styles of whiskey made in the United States, from classic Kentucky bourbon to the unique new single malts of Seattle. Class begins with a guided tasting of three distinct whiskey styles, and finishes with instruction on how to make the quintessential American whiskey cocktails: The Manhattan and Old Fashioned.

New Orleans Master Class (June 22 and 25)
In addition to New Orleans' reputation as a mecca for food and music, the city is definitive of Southern cocktail culture, both classic and contemporary. In this final session, Jerry will focus on the cocktail traditions of the city, and lead the group through making three of its defining classics: The Sazerac, The Vieux Carré and The Ramos Gin Fizz.
