Metro Atlanta has a large LGBT population, with dedicated sports leagues, a liaison with the Atlanta Police Department and plenty of great gay-friendly neighborhoods, it's no surprise, then, that the area hosts quite a few LGBT Pride Month events.

Pride is recognized in June in honor of Manhattan’s 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan. which is regarded as a catalyst for the LGBT civil rights movement in the U.S.

In commemorating those events and honoring the LGBT community’s diverse culture, Atlanta will host fundraisers, marches, parties and more.

The following are six ways to celebrate Pride Month around Atlanta:

Titus Davis marches in the Atlanta Pride Parade on Peachtree Street, Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015. This Sunday, the Atlanta Equality March will celebrate Pride Month in Atlanta. BRANDEN CAMP/SPECIAL/For the AJC
