Georgia's largest island, located near St. Marys, will be difficult to visit without the ferry operated by the federal government.

It’s National Parks Week, so the National Park Service has the perfect way to say thank you to its avid park goers.

On Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23, residents across Georgia can explore the following nature and historical sites for free:

The savings offered at the 400 parks around the country ranges between $3 to $30 per admission.

All of these state attractions will also waive admission fees on dates in August, September and November as part of the park service’s 100th birthday celebration.

Here are the additional days to mark your calendar for free entry into these nature and historical sites in 2017:

  • August 25: National Park Service Birthday
  • September 30: National Public Lands Day
  • November 11-12: Veterans Day Weekend

The full list of Georgia parks offering free admission as a part of the birthday celebration can be found here.
