Crimes of Fashion
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Martin Miller’s Gin surveyed 100 fashion editors from magazines and newspapers across the country to come up with a list of the worst fashion fads of the past 25 years.
Here’s the top 10 from least to most offensive fad:
Flip Flops. For taking casual too far.
Tube Tops. Too many people need more support than these offer.
Uggs. They may be warm, but Uggs are still ugly.
Tie-Dyed anything. Still worn by stuck in the sixties hippies.
Leisure suits. For senior citizens and Sopranos only.
Leg Warmers. If your legs are cold, wear Pants!
Crocs. For the under 12 crowd only.
Cropped tops. Keep your belly baring on the beach.
Shoulder Pads. Fashion staple of the 80’s.
Jeans. Too skinny, ripped or low has to go. Keep this classic simple.
Are you guilty of a fashion faux-pas? What is missing from the list?

11. Just because they make it in your size, doesn’t mean you should wear it.By Mz.Katy

1) Black stockings and white shoes 2) Open toed sandals with stockings 3) DIRTY white shoes 4) Scuffed patent leather 5) Jeans/pants that are so long the ends are frayed from where you’ve walked on them for months and months 6) Muffin tops - ladies either wear a corset or work out 7) Whales tails - again for the ladies, who cares if you’re wearing a pink thong with sparkles? 8) Pants that don’t touch your shoes (exception for capris… but see #9) 9) Capris - can we PLEASE let these die? 10) Black women wearing white bras with see-through shirts - sisters, invest in a camisole please. 11) Old, stained, or worn out purses/bags 12) Cleavage - less is more 13) Men tucking in their shirts when they look 9 months along (see #14) 14) Mens shoes worn out so much the heel is tilting to the outside 15) Men not investing in GOOD socks that actually stay up when they walk
I’ll think of more later!

I’d like to add the following:
XXXL White tees On skinny dudes, that is. If you’re really that big go right ahead
Knee Length Business Slacks Seen only on women (thankfully), but many an otherwise professional VP has been spotted in this confusing combination of boardroom/boardshorts
Mesh Shirts The ones guys sometimes wear to the bar to show off their muscles, not legitimate athletic uniforms.
Sleeveless-anything on Guys Thankfully not so prevalent in more recent years … who wants to look at grody, deodorant-encrusted armpit tufts

Sleeveless tops on women with flabby arms; low rise jeans on anyone - no one wants to see your thong or …; short shorts on those who should not wear them; high heels with shorts; skinny jeans look cheap and don’t fit 1/2 of the people who wear them; big hair; men’s white dress shirts that have now yellowed; chipped toe polish with sandals. If you have chipped polish, put on a covered shoe until you can get a pedicure; big earrings on a large woman - looks like Elsie the cow; sweat suits on casual work days - save these for home; white tennis shoes; boots with a nylon summer type dress.

Wow, I agree with MzKaty & Brown-Eyed Girl…Ladies, please wear bras, panties & socks that match if you feel the need to show them off..A shirt tucked into the front of your jeans & not the back..Men in really tight T shirts..

too tight thin t-shirts with low rise jeans on anyone over a size 2 or 25 yoa. Come on ladies you know that we can all see your belly buttons through the t-shirt because it’s stretched too far. Not all fashions are meant for every size.
Oh and high heels on those who cannot walk in them not cute and your in everyone’s way.

Know what your size is, and stop fantasizing that if you hold your stomach in, you’ll look two sizes smaller. Nothing makes a person look fatter than too-small clothes.

French Pedicures - especially on long toenails!! They’re godawful and I can’t figure out why people do this!! Stop!!!
Get your toenails cut and put a tasteful color on your toes. Black would be better than a French pedicure.

Long, unpolished fingernails (yellowed claws, ugh!) I see this a lot on Buford Highway & that is huge women in skin tight halter tops & snug, low-rise, buttcrack-revealing jeans

I wore a mid-riff to work one day…is that so wrong?
It went very well with my newly groomed beard.
I cannot imagine why they sent me home….Facists!

Reading the comments above, I have to agree people should dress according to their bodies/environment. So ladies wear that low rise as long as u got the body for it (age does not matter……..Ok 2 a point). With 35% obesity and god knows what % overweight people, there r so few that look good in anything but a rain coat. Thats one thing I miss about S. FL…..and yes I am lean mean gym going muscle machine….

I’d have to agree with most of the comments on here, but I have to talk about the hair. I hate when people wear weave that is a completely different color or texture than their real hair. Hair is fashion too!

Lets not forget the faux tan - I nearly laughed myself silly over two girls at the mall with short short demin skirts, uggs and too much fake bake. Adding keep the make up age appropriate - which means review your stash at least once a year! Lastly - you do not have to cut your hair when you turn 40.

Super short jean skirts with nothing under them. Wear them over leggings! Don’t be a ho.
Men haircuts on women of any age!
I am sick of capri/crop pants too but since I am tall, they have been my lifesaver. It’s hard to find jeans long enough. The “talls” in the stores aren’t TALL at all. Buckle has ones that are 37inch inseam. Perfect length on me.. hit the floor when i have heels on BUT good grief they are so low cut I have to wear really long shirts or else I become a union woman.
Enough with the super low cut stuff.

Wearing a regular bra with a halter-top or a tube top!
Tube tops in General!
Pajama pants anywhere out side of the bedroom!
Weaves in colors that are not nor will they ever be a natural hair color.
I could go no forever!

I’ll admit to being built like a potato (I’m over 50) but cut me just a little slack here! Attractive clothing for my age and shape is practically non-existant. It’s either shapeless sacks or cutesy-poo too young. I try really hard to dress nicely and in clothes that fit well. I don’t even mind spending the bucks to dress well…when I can find the right clothes.
But please oh please…spare me the boxy jacket-tops over the appliqued tees. No one should consider those an option!

Low-rise jeans with big bellys don’t mix! Flat booty girls in lowrise jeans that don’t fit.
White girls with huge fake breasts that are reaching for the stars! Why not wear a wonderbra?! And orange tans!
Cat suits are never fashionable.
Men with clothes not ironed. Not cute!
Teenaged Granny Wannabe’s still shopping in the junior’s department. Please, they have much more appropriate clothing that’s still cool in misses. Try it!
White stockings. It’s no longer the 90’s.
Sorry, but I love french manicures. They look sexy on the toes!

There is someone in my office who wears Capris (too tight) with boots in the winter. LOL.

Hair is fashion, too. Let’s get rid of the hair weave that should have been taken out yesterday or for that matter last week!!
I am sick of low rise jeans, can we move on?
Tight short, shorts and high heel timberland boots…..Not!!! Try again…and I was at Six Flags when I saw that.
Guys with the night gown length tees on….get your correct size.

Parents who buy hoochie clothing for their pre-teen/teen daughters. You have the checkbook…just say no! Too many girls running around looking like they should be working in a night club….

Wear what you want, be comfortable. The only fashion crime is letting what others think dictate your life.

I met a couple recently. Both very attractive. She was quite pretty, both in their late 40’s I would think. Maybe even 50. I was stunned that she had a cropped top on. I thought it looked really…oh….trashy? At 50, I don’t really care how great your body is….it’s called ‘taste’.
