Where oh Where is Wii?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Soooo, who scored a Nintendo Wii this year?
As Christmas nears, I’ve heard from near desperate shoppers who are still in pursuit of the elusive game.
My sister called from the Midwest, asking me to check stores here, as if it’s readily available in the South.
A friend said she and her husband got up at 4 a.m. and went to two stores (including Best Buy) before they found a line with fewer than 10 people. They finally got one
Another friend said the kids are getting an IOU to be filled on their birthdays.
Did you get one? If not, what are your plans for getting one?

Did Costco make you go to the Mall?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Debate is brewing over Costco’s impact as a mall anchor, according to a recent story in Women’s Wear Daily.
While some research shows that Costco draws non-mall shoppers to malls, other experts say any positive effect of Costco on mall traffic is still undetermined.
Atlanta’s Cumberland Mall is one of four locations in the country with a mall based Costco. A fifth is planned for fall 2008 in the Los Angeles area.
Had you been to Cumberland Mall before Costco arrived up in 2006?

Subtle Butt, a square shield made of activated carbon fiber, sticks to the inside of your underwear with two adhesive straps. Its purpose? To filter flatulence.
Seriously.

Is that really a sale?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The signs are up everywhere: 40 percent off this, 60 percent off that.
But when is a sale really a sale?
The Dec./Jan. issue of ShopSmart magazine reveals a sneaky retail trick; setting the regular price above the manufacturer suggested retail price to make a markdown look better.
When you’re out shopping, how do you figure out when you’re really getting a deal or when you’re just being snowed by a markup that has been marked down?

Taking Care of Denim
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The things we do for our jeans (especially now that we pay anywhere from $100 to $300 for most premium brands.)
Here are some of the new rules of denim care that we’ve heard:
1) Don’t wash your Earnest Sewn jeans for 6 months to let them “settle in”. A colleague complied, while wondering how do the jeans know when six months is over?
2) Turn denim inside out before washing to prevent fading.
3) Hang dry your jeans to avoid shrinkage.
Have you heard of other “tips” for denim care?
What are some of the crazy things you do for your denim?

Victoria’s Secret weapon
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A few things occurred to me yesterday when I tuned in to the Victoria’s Secret 12th annual fashion show on CBS:
1) It should have been called the Heidi Klum show (not that I’m complaining) featuring her husband Seal and her model friends
2) All models want to be moms when they “retire”
3) If they weren’t in the tabloids every week, I would believe the Spice Girls, or at least their talent, had been cryopreserved for the past six years.
4) Models Adriana Lima and Miranda Kerr look a lot alike.
5) Actor Jeremy Piven (spotted in the audience) scares me.
Oh, and the lingerie looked good too.
What are your thoughts on the show?

If you’ve been to Phipps Plaza lately (since Saturday), you may have noticed new signs for UpFront Plus!
It’s a new parking service at the P3 Peachtree Street entrance, just in time for the holidays.
For $4, you can self-park in one of 140 allocated spots and attendants will help you with strollers, packages, etc. Phipps says the service is great for holiday shoppers and shoppers with children.
For $7 plus tip, you can still use valet.

A Fragrance Wardrobe
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
About 800 new fragrances were launched this year and everyone it seems is getting into the game.
Celebrities including Usher and Mariah Carey released debut scents this fall, as did stores such as Ann Taylor.
Some experts believe everyone should have a fragrance wardrobe, as in not just one signature scent, but many different ones that you change when your mood changes.
How many fragrances do you own?
What new scents do you love?
