Preventing Motion Sickness

(HealthScoutNews) -- If you suffer from motion sickness, it's important to take medication before you get the symptoms.

Decreased stomach absorption is one side effect of motion sickness, so drugs taken after symptoms appear are not effective, says Dr. Wayne J. Riley, director of the Travel Medicine Service at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston.

Riley also suggests avoiding heavy meals two hours before traveling, not reading in a moving car, train, or boat; sitting in the front seat of a car; and keeping your eyes focused on the horizon.
