Psychotic depression; Delusional depression
Definition:
A condition in which depression is associated with abnormal ideation and delusional thinking. See major depression; also see psychosis.
Causes and Risks 5% of the U.S. population, and 30% of those with Major Depression are estimated to have psychotic depression. There are no obvious risk factors, though it is known that those with a family history of depression or psychotic illness will be more susceptible.
