Heart attacks and iron supplements
Information
Question:
Do iron supplements contribute to heart attacks?
Answer:
There is no conclusive evidence that iron supplements contribute to heart attacks. Younger women in their childbearing years need to make sure they are getting at least 15 milligrams of iron a day. As with any vitamin or diet supplement, taking more than the recommended amount may be harmful. See iron in diet.
