The Sandy Spring rolls are a standby favorite at this vegetarian restaurant. Wonton wrappers are filled with shredded cabbage, carrots, onions and glass noodles, deep fried and served with a side of sweet and sour dipping sauce, jazzed up with zesty mustard. Two rolls come per order, or make a meal out of the Sunflower Box, which includes spring rolls, a spaghetti squash cake, pot stickers, basil rolls and red pepper hummus ($14).

The "suburban casual" restaurant changed hands last September, updating the shrimp spring rolls to chicken. But Gregg Zeringue, executive chef and owner, says they are still popular, mainly because of the two zingy sauces that come on the side — sweet and spicy jalapeño jelly and a soy glaze with orange and ginger. Chicken, scallions, garlic, Napa cabbage and rice noodles are rolled up and deep-fried. Zeringue also recommends the sesame sea bass with hoisin beurre blanc and jasmine rice.

The crunchy all-vegetable spring rolls are hot and fresh, and the Thai and sushi combination works like a charm. It may be in a strip mall, but inside, a serene décor creates a relaxing atmosphere. With a menu so extensive, the simple rolls may seem like an afterthought, but they are one of the kitchen's strengths. Filled with crunchy veggies and deep-fried, they are served with a sweet chile dipping sauce. And if you order a Thai entree at lunch time, they are included with your meal.
