Brunch Bites
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s that time of year again: Easter and Mother’s Day make everyone brunchateria maniacs. At Shaun’s in Inman Park, Easter brings a buffet lunch with eggs benedict with Berkshire pork loin and hollandaise, mimosas and hummingbird cake. Rainwater in Alpharetta is having its annual Easter brunch with carving and omelet stations, as well as traditional brunch goodies. Even Atkins Park is getting in on the Easter brunch action. So Atlanta— where are your favorite brunch spots for Easter?

I really love the brunch at Ray’s on the River but was really disappointed when they upped their prices last Easter from $25 per person to $40! And, I didn’t notice any change on the spread… I think they (like most establishments) were just taking advantage! Not cool. We’ll be doing it up right at home this year.

Love. Love! LOVE the crab cakes benedict at Les Fleurs de Lis Cafe in the Fairlie-Poplar district of downtown Atlanta. Grab a Sunday paper, settle into a table on the sidewalk or in the breezeway of the historic Healy building and start off with a fresh chocolate or almond croissant and a mimosa. Hey, YOU deserve it… If the crab cakes benedict is not your taste, try the duck hash with golden fried potatoes or steak and eggs! If you’re an espresso lover, wind yourself up for your next move with a mini-bold treat or with a white chocolate mochachino. Bon Appetit!

Hey Mark & Georgia: This is not an on-line dating service.
Best bruch in the city is the TreeHouse in Peachtree Hills. The place is small, but the food is great.
The second best bruch is Murphy’s in the Highlands.

Best brunch I’ve ever had is at Vines Botanical Garden in Loganville. Absolutely massive spread, unbelievable food of all kinds. Dessert table incredible too, blueberry and macadamia nut tart was to die for. I haven’t been there in a long time and hope they still do the Sunday brunch! Call before going, never know when the whole place will be booked up for weddings.

I love the jazz brunch at Ocean Flavors. It is located on Georgia Highway 85. It is great to have a decent seafood restaurant on that side of town.

My family likes the Sunday brunch at Ray’s on the River and Ray’s Killer Creek, but we agree with KTinGA: on holidays, they take advantage. We’ll be going to Little Gardens on Lawrenceville Highway this Easter. Their Sunday brunch is just as good and their holiday prices are much more reasonable.

I’m gonna say it:
Anyone that is spending more than $15 per person on a brunch, please raise your hand…I want to laugh at you until I fall down.
Seriously people, I can’t tell you what to do with your money, but I can say you’re stupid. Maybe you’re also the ones who defend the spending of thousands of dollars on proms for the kids…the expensive dresses and the Hummer limos.
Being a divorced dad that pays child support has REALLY been an eye-opening experience in Atlanta.
For the record, I’ll make my own Easter brunch, loaded omelets on whole wheat bread.

To All
The best brunch is town is which of my lady friends invites me to the nicest spread at her house. LOL I’m with Dave, too many years of child support and alimony have dimmed my desire to spend a fortune for a meal I can cook at home.
(Okay, you can relax, I am jsut kidding. Relationships are investments and sometimes you have to invest a little more on a Sunday than you deep down really want to).

What’s wrong with good ol’ Golden Corral or Ryan’s? Their food is better than some of the BEST brunches in town, plus it’s half as expensive.

To bobby: The Grit, and everyone in it, can die in a vegan fire. The food is surprisingly worse than the townie service is cold.
For a REAL brunch, go to Five and Ten in Athens, on S. Lumpkin Street. The french toast with sabayon and raspberry coulis is beyond words good. Also good is the brunch at Maison Bleu in Watkinsville.

Agnes and Muriel’s is yummy, fun, and they probably use 4 tons of butter. Their Easter brunch also is a benefit for a bunny-rescue, so it is good for your Karma. And you get to pet all sorts of bunnies. If you go, make sure you get a mimosa.
