DEKALB FARMERS MARKET. lettuce so fresh that the milk (juice, whatever it’s called) is still oozing from the stem from where the farmer cut it upon harvesting it.

P & W Produce on Beaver Ruin Road in Lilburn. I don’t know how they do it, but they always seem to have the best vine-ripened tomatoes. Their prices are lower than the grocery stores and the quality is just so much better.

The Morningside Saturday Market across from Alons. More vegetables than fruits, but the farmers’ produce will remind you what food is supposed to taste like. We had the most wonderful red potatoes from there the other day…

R.C.’s Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, located on Ga. Hwy. 20 between Canton and Cumming. Closer to Canton. It’s a little red brick house on the right if you are coming from Canton. Ray is the owner. They also have Amish Farm butter and preserves. Try it out!

I prefer the stale, plastic no name food from Aldi’s. Several locations in Atlanta metro. Yummy.

Definitely Dekalb Farmers Market. The largest, freshest variety of fruit & vegetables in Georgia, hands down, not to mention the incredible fresh seafood, meats and cheeses. Did I mention the prices are also the lowest? Go there and you’ll never go anywhere else.

I’ve heard great stuff about the H Mart in Duluth. Great prices, pretty fruit and veggies….

The Dekalb Farmers Mkt has got to be the best of all, the best selection of fruits and vegetables in Atlanta. You can buy the best meats, fish and cheeses that are as good as it gets and last but by no means least is the world class bakery, if all they had was the bakeryI’d go. Try it you’ll never go anyplace else.

The DeKalb Farmer’s Market is by far the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen that kind of selection anywhere else of fresh fruits, veggies, meats, cheeses, etc.

The farmers market at the Spruill Center on Ashford-Dunwoody Rd. has organic and/or locally grown/sustainable veggies, herbs, flowers and meats (sometimes) on Wednesday from 8-1.

The best rotten tomatoes for throwing at democratic candidates is definitely at the P.U. Market on South street. (go north).

Ditto about the Dekalb Farmers Market. Fresh Market and Whole Foods are good too (WF is just very pricey). I’m not impressed with Trader Joe’s produce freshness but they are still better than the list below —-

David’ s Produce near Northlake Mall on LaVista has the freshest REALLY homegrown ( not ever refrigerated ) tomatoes around. He goes to local growers to get them. Also has a fantastiic selection of sweets from a place in Between, Georgia.

Compare a tomato from Dekalb Farmers Market with the read deal from Decatur, Peachtree Road or Morningside farmers’ markets and its a no brainer. Plus, I’d rather put my money directly in the hands of a farmer.

For THE BEST tomatos, a guy sells them from his house on Old Norcross Road in Duluth, by Berekely Hills Country Club.

Or the Suwannee Farmer’s Market at Park Towne Center every Saturday through September……

I like Harry’s Farmers Market in Alpharetta, it’s cleaner than the Dekalb market and they will place special orders for you if something is in season, but not in stock.

Dekalb Farmers Market…by far the best…price, quality and selection-wise. I live in Kennesaw(not by choice), but I am in Decatur about once a week…I don’t leave without a visit. Also, the food at the DKF cafeteria is tasty and inexpensive.

The Marietta Farmer’s Market. Only open on Saturday’s 9-12 PM. Just off the square. Great stuff right from the farmers.

For tomatoes, peaches,…truck garden stuff, the truck at East Wieuca and Roswell Road (at the drycleaners)has had delicous tomatoes and peaches this year. There is a place in Sandy Springs at Mt Vernon and Sandy Springs Circle that has good stuff but more expensive. Finally if you want shelled peas by the bushel, try Hatchers Produce at the Farmer’s Market in Forrest Park. They are clean of debris, excellent quality and easy to parboil for freezing. They sell other things to the public in quantity also.
