Where’s Your Favorite Slice?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A few pizza spots opening in the area:
Varasano’s Pizzeria will open in the spa-inspired residential building Mezzo in Midtown/Buckhead. Varasano is the internet/engineer/pizza/guru/dude who “engineered” the perfect Bronx pizza though rigorous trial and error and, apparently, lots of house parties in his Buckhead home.
Early November will bring Pizzeria Venti, the chain from Florida, to Lenox Village shopping center in Buckhead. This is the first of this fast-casual concept with pasta, pizza and gelato to open in the Atlanta area.
Pizza Fusion, the uber green chain “saving the world one pizza at a time” is opening five stores in the area, the first on Peachtree near H & F Bread Company. This joint does everything from recycling the heat from their ovens to heat their water to making their sinks out of green-friendly bamboo. Crazy.
I welcome the slices, one and all. Nothing gets a girl through like a mean slice of pizza. Meanwhile I’ll head to Baraonda for a thin slice with nothing but cheese, or Floatway Cafe (the city’s best-kept secret on pizza) for a wood oven-fired slice of margherita. Maybe I’ll head to Rosa’s on Broad Street downtown for a New Jersey reality check. I could head to Fritti for a gooey slice of quattro formaggi. Nevermind — I’m staying in and noshing on Mellow Mushroom’s sausage and wathing a Coen Brothers movie.
Where’s your favorite slice?

Shorty’s in Tucker. Everything I’ve tried is delicious. And, I’ll always love Mellow Mushroom.

Buckhead Pizza Co. (Buford & CUmming) is the best in town. Great whole wheat crust is an option. Looks like they will be opening another one in Buckhead in the near future.

Isn’t this the sixth or eighth or tenth time this year that this topic has been discussed? Let me guess…tomorrow’s topic will be “who has the best BBQ?”

Savage in L5P is pretty good, but Carmine’s in Alpharetta rules! Side note: wonder how many people will actually fall for Mike D’s bait (C;

All of those pizzas taste like someone left a stool sample on my table. You should try Jonny’s pizza in Johns Creek.

Uncle Vito’s in Cumming. It’s real NY style pizza like I ate growing up. And it’s AFFORDABLE.

I avoid corporate pizza at all cost. The best pizza always comes from a brick oven in a building that looks like it should have been condemned years ago.

Bambinelli’s in Lilburn, GA has the best pizza in Atlanta! Try the Bambinelli’s special slice, or the veggie slice. They make everything fresh everyday (dough, sauce, etc). I have been dining here for years, and enjoy the atmosphere, and their staff too! Bamby’s is the best!!!

I think they add a mild laxative to Bambinell’s pizza. Everytime I’ve been there, I spent the next three to four hours riding my throne.

Riverside pizza for $5 can’t beat that. Since I’ve been in Atlanta I don’t even care for Pizza Hut,Papa John’s, Domino’s anymore. Unless, I just run out of taste buds or to lazy to drive to my favorite pizza parlor place.

Eastside Pizza in John’s Creek/Alpharetta is the best! Aside from delicious food, they have trivia nights and beer tasting events with something for everyone. The whole family loves it!

<> I really like Pepperoni’s Tavern on Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta. Great pizza selection & you can try several different flavored crusts. NY Pizza Exchange in the Vinings area is also really good with a wide selection. Haven’t yet been to Corner Pizza, but plan to go soon.

Everyone sounds like a broken record with their pedestrian and middling favorites…
how about- Fortunato’s, Verra-Zanno’s, Traditions Il Bacio… miss Vito Goldberg’s (RIP)
Baraonda and Rosa’s does have a very nice ‘ZA.

Pasta Bella on Austell Road!!!! You would never think this would be the place for the best pizza, but it really is. Also, Fortunato’s is very, very good.

Mama’s is my favorite for a slice. Eastside will do for delivery. I wouldn’t touch what those dirty hippies at Mellow Mushroom are cooking with a 10 foot pole.
