LABOR DAY WEEKEND

Starlight Six’s Drive Invasion an attack of killer B’s

B movies, bands take center stage

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Labor Day weekend wouldn’t be the same without Drive Invasion, a two-day alfresco celebration of underground, vintage, rockabilly, camp and kitsch that grew out of a 50th birthday party for Starlight Six Drive-In Theatre in 1999. Bring along your cooler (no glass permitted), grab some barbecue or a corn dog (or Sunday morning breakfast if you secure a camping spot on the lawn) and check out the Dixie Fried vintage car show, daylong musical performances and movies all night, ranging from cringe-worthy B movies like “Forbidden Planet” to cult comedies such as “This Is Spinal Tap.” Tailgating starts at 11 a.m., bands follow at 1 p.m., and movies start at 9:30 p.m. Here’s a rundown of this year’s lineup:
