Thursday, May 28, 2009

Still need something to do tonight? Head to Centennial Olympic Park and travel “Back to the Future” as Screen on the Green kicks off at 6 p.m.

Now in its 10th year, the free film series will also feature performances from local talent. The 1985 movie starring Michael J. Fox will begin at sunset.

Southern Outdoor Cinema employee Russell Gottschalk works to set up the 60-foot by 40-foot inflatable screen for Screen on the Green at Centennial Olympic Park.

Formerly held at Piedmont Park and moved downtown due to the drought, Screen on the Green shows one movie each Thursday for five consecutive weeks in the summer. Presented by Turner’s Peachtree TV, the event runs until 11 p.m.

Bring along blankets, coolers, and non-alcoholic drinks, along with chairs with backs 24 inches or shorter so you won’t block other viewers.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it Thursday. Here is the rest of the lineup:

• June 4 — “Dreamgirls”

• June 11 — “Field of Dreams”

• June 18 — “Home Alone”

• June 25 — “Ghostbusters,” winner of an online vote.
