'Mr. And Mrs. Smith': Weirdly funny ... whether or not it should be

Palm Beach Post

As much as I liked this dark, dark tale of married hit persons who've turned their sights (and their automatic weapons) on each other, I feel sorta weird that I did.

I mean, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are the prettiest pair of wacky gun-toting kids in the universe, but there's something so wrong about a movie where they're trying to kill each other.

Twentieth Century Fox

It's weirdly funny, this movie, and sexy too ... I just don't know if it should be.

And honestly, there's a whole 20-minute stretch after Jane (Jolie) and John (Pitt) Smith discover each other's duplicity, that's like a Quentin Tarantino production of Mad magazine's Spy vs. Spy.

It's just pretty people trying to kill each other, and we know they won't, at that point, because there's like an hour or more left to go.

It got really boring, honestly, at that point. Good thing Brad-n-Angie know their way so well around a one-liner, a knowing look and sexy formalwear.

Besides, any movie that features my beloved Vince Vaughn can't be all that bad.
