'Pulse': An intense, moody remake

"Pulse," yet another Americanized version of a Japanese horror flick, is extremely high concept — and trying very hard to be About Something. It's intended as an indictment of our overdependence on communications devices, but the premise is out-of-this-world unbelievable. In this American remake of the Japanese horror film, wireless technologies make a connection to a world beyond our own. When you turn on your cell phone or log on to your e-mail, you'll be infectedby evil signals that aim to take from you what they don't have anymore: life.
