Woody Allen takes a disappointing turn in 'Scoop'

Woody Allen's newest, "Scoop," opens with a bunch of Fleet Street's finest sitting in a pub, swapping stories about their recently deceased mate, veteran newshound Joe Strombel ("Deadwood's" Ian McShane). TO SUM UP
The late British journalist Joe Strombel is being mourned by his colleagues — even as, stuck in limbo, Joe remains committed to pursuing a hot tip on "the Tarot Card Killer" at large in London. How can his legwork get done now? By a very-much-alive American journalism student, Sondra Pransky, who is visiting friends in London. From beyond, Joe gives her the scoop of a lifetime.
