The Flick Chick Quick List: Radio radio!

In the new film, The Night Listener, Gabriel Noone (Robin Williams) is a late-night radio personality who becomes personally involved — perhaps too personally — with a young caller who's survived a horrible ordeal ... or has he? These following five fictional radio guys also get audibly up close and personal with their broadcast family. In some cases, this is positive. And in at least one, it's a good way to get eaten by bloodthirsty former Mogwai. Don't think that's covered at the Columbia School of Broadcasting.
1. Hard Harry/Mark Hunter (Christian Slater), Pump Up The Volume (1990): I could never get what bitter upper-middle class high-schooler Mark, who has a pirate radio station on which he incites his fellow youth, was so mad about. He's cute. He's got parents who care. He's dating Samantha Mathis. Get over yourself.
2. Adrian Cronaur (Robin Williams), Good Morning Vietnam (1987): Yes, Robin Williams had an earlier foray into radio as real-life Vietnam DJ Cronaur. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be hankering for some Motown.
3. Dave Garner (Clint Eastwood), Play Misty For Me (1971): Public service announcement time, kiddies — Don't sleep with crazy fans. You're welcome.
4. Mr. Senor Love Daddy (Samuel L. Jackson), Do The Right Thing (1989): Back when he was just Sam Jackson, the smooth-talking star narrated the hottest day in Brooklyn — and the horrible mess that erupts during it.
5. Rockin' Ricky Rialto (Don Steele), Gremlins (1984): We never see Rockin' Ricky, but we hear him throughout the movie glibly chronicling the ascent of the cute and cuddly Mogwai into murderous green monsters. We also hear his final words, "Hey! You're not Rockin' Ricky fans!" You got that right!
