CLUB REVIEW
Dunwoody TavernGood times, beer are always on tap
Published on: 01/06/2005
THE DUNWOODY TAVERN'S north metro location makes it a popular destination for people in the area who'd rather drink beers in their neighborhood than trek into the city for a night on the town. Like any good neighborhood bar, the tavern has a welcoming environment and plenty of beer. The decor is typical of stylized pubs, but the Irish and English beers on tap and a menu teeming with British chow give the bar a credible pub appeal. It also has three pool tables, two Golden Tee machines and a big-screen TV.
THE SCENE: The tavern draws many customers in their 20s and 30s from the surrounding Dunwoody area. And like the bar, the dress code is casual, with some customers in work clothes and others in T-shirts. Some use the bar as a starting point before heading to Buckhead, while others, like Susan Thompson, prefer to stay away from the Atlanta scene. "I love this place," she says. "As a woman you can walk into the bar alone and know it will be OK."

| Dunwoody Tavern is a neighborhood pub with plenty of jukebox jams, occasional live acts and the usual game diversions. | |||
TUNES AND EVENTS: Occasionally the bar hosts live bands, but a digital jukebox provides music most of the time: Kid Rock, Weezer and U2 with some country in the mix. The bar has pool tournaments on Mondays, team trivia on Tuesdays and Texas Hold 'Em on Wednesdays.
PRICE: The bar has 16 beers on tap, including Guinness, Newcastle and Boddingtons, which range from $4-$5 a pint. The British cuisine includes fish and chips, Irish stew and steak and mushroom pie, all for $10-$13. For American-inclined tastebuds, $6.95 will get you a bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and onion rings.
