Atmosphere: A cross between a genuine roadhouse and a solemn listening room, but it leans toward the former most of the time despite being in the heart of Virginia-Highland.

Honored alumni: Blind Willie's has one of the best lineups of national touring blues acts in town and a revolving lineup of regulars who are good enough to give the out-of-towners a run for their money. Luther "Houserocker" Johnson, his blistering guitar and house band the Shadows have been regulars for many years. You can catch sassy local treasure Francine Reed and big-voiced Sandra Hall, too.
