1479 Scott Blvd., Decatur. 404-377-0301

Atmosphere: The folks who run this place got their start at Fat Matt's, and it shows. Both the barbecue and the blues will seem very familiar to anyone who's been to that venerable joint on Piedmont Avenue. Still, it's nice to have a place like this for those on the east side of town. The place overlooks a not-particularly-scenic section of Scott Boulevard just a couple of doors down from the intersection of North Decatur Road. Look the other way and you'll see the open kitchen and the barbecue pit. A nice selection of brews and the hearty barbecue and blues are the real attraction, though.
Honored alumni: Regulars such as Chicago Joe Jones and local reliables like the Sana Blues Band and Ron Cooley.
Incoming class: You can't go wrong Tuesdays through Thursdays during February, when the regulars are Rough Draft (Tuesdays), the Blues Barons (Wednesdays) and Chicago Joe Jones (Thursdays). The Santos Brothers make an appearance the Saturday and Ron Cooley plays Feb. 26.
