More club reviews
Far from the incognito lounge scene, Club Europe welcomes attendees with a bright neon sign and an equally grand sound system. The club is housed in the CBS Center (formerly known as the Ramada Plaza Hotel) -- that tall cylinder visible from Spaghetti Junction and I-85 near Chamblee. A night out at Club Europe may remind you of a hotel experience: It's nice to get away, but "gourmet" yet bland flavors abound, and any guest can be a Club Level VIP -- for a price.

PRICE: Always free for women before midnight. After then, it's $5 for those over 21, $10 under 21. Guys, it's $10 if you're over 21, and $20 if you don't make the age cut. Drinks are poured and priced generously, with Crown & ginger and Tanqueray & tonic going for $6 each. Ask the general manager about VIP admission.

TUNES: Saturday claims to cater to the European crowd, but unless a remix of Celine Dion qualifies, expect to see the dance floor pumping with high-energy takes on J-Lo's "I'm Glad" and Madonna's "Like A Virgin." This is the "Club Hits" night where you'll eventually find yourself dancing or at least singing along. Breakbeats will satisfy those more electronically inclined. A bit of dancehall and salsa flavor also make their way into the mix, but a heavier Latin vibe kicks off on Sundays with Noche Caliente. A lone dancer kept the growing crowd entertained until midnight recently, but by 12:30 a.m., the floor was packed.

SCENE: Just because the floor didn't jam before midnight doesn't mean the same for the club. The main seating area had few spots left by 11:30 p.m. The multi-culti crowd is fun, and friendly staff encourage everyone to have a good time.

This is an 18-and-up venue. If you live on this side of town, skip the drive to Buckhead and party near your pad. And if you're tired of intown fuss, frizz and familiar faces, Club Europe might be the night out (and off) you want.

THE 411: 4001 Presidential Parkway, Atlanta (off I-85 North, Chamblee-Tucker Road exit), 770-452-1240.
