DESPITE ITS NAME, club NV is nothing to be jealous about. Located on Spring Street in Midtown, the single-level building looks appealing from the outside, but it's the inside that counts.
PRICE: $15, but if you pay $25 for VIP, you won't have to wait in line. Drinks are $3-$4 unless it's teen night, when no drinks are served. There are $5 parking lots within a block or two.
TUNES: Hard-core dirty South music. On a recent Friday night, the DJ obliged with his Greatest-Thug-Music-of-the-Dirty-South collection.
SCENE: The interior is one large brick-walled room with a stage, a few couches in the corner, a solitary disco ball hanging from the ceiling and a small bar, which is closed on "teen" Fridays. The crowd is a high concentration of high school students and some first-year college undergrads who spend the night indulging in a grind fest. Saturday is "College Night," when the targeted crowd, obviously, isn't much older.
The dress code was — well, there didn't seem to be one. Everything from white T-shirts to Spandex floral skirts was in the room and everyone wore sneakers — from fresh white Nikes to runover Reeboks.
Friday isn't always teen night, but if you're over 18, don't chance it. NV will always attract a younger crowd because its age minimum is 18. The bright side is that it's spacious enough to keep cool and avoid sweaty people.
