Eleven50

Published on: 06/22/04

EXPERIENCE MIDNIGHT in Eden at Midtown's club eleven50. The house-music haven has added hip-hop to its mix. On Saturday nights (as long as the weather is nice), the outside patio is open for guests to mingle in the moonlight.

SCENE: Two bars and a glowing pool, oversized lounge furniture and VIP booths decked in crispy, clean linen create a sophisticated summer swaray feeling. The atmosphere is quite suitable for jazz. The well-dressed 20- to 30-somethings sip potent mixed drinks and shuffle around the deck. The scene attracts a significant number of couples, and dancing is minimal among this crowd, unless you consider the B-boys (Yes, a group of break dancers comes equipped with its own roll of linoleum, where they pop, lock and shock the crowd with spinning headstands).

TUNES: The DJs keep the vibe mellow with a range of old-school and hip-hop. They keep it soulful and smooth; nothing is too loud or too commercial or too (for lack of a better word) crunk.

PRICE: The cover is $15, unless you get on the online guest list and arrive before 11 p.m. The drinks range from $6 to $10; Tanqueray and tonic is $7 or Grey Goose and tonic is $9. Parking is $5-$15. There are several lots in the vicinity, and it's first come, first serve to get the cheap ones.
