There's star power in the musical accompaniment to Atlanta entertainment mogul Tyler Perry's film in theaters Friday: There are strong performances throughout, including:

Chaka Khan, "Angel" (also on her Grammy-winning latest CD, "Funk This")

Jill Scott, "My Love" (also on her latest CD "The Real Thing: Words and Sounds, Vol. 3")

• Riveting vocalist Kelly Price covering "I'll Take You There"

• Relative newcomer Ledisi, "Alright" (also on her CD "Lost & Found")

Tamela Mann offering eye-popping gust with the gospel closer "Hallelujah-Live," (also on her CD "The Live Experience")

And there are a number of surprises: of the pleasant (the remarkable solo turn of Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland on "Love Again"); OK (the return of Brandy, Coko and Case); and less so (Musiq Soulchild and Estelle's almost exact remake of Atlanta group Arrested Development's "People Everyday") variety.
