We're afraid that, musically, the joke's on 2 of them

The calendar says it's Halloween, but some new CD releases may sound more like April Fool's Day. Flavor Flav (star of reality TV's "Flavor of Love"), Kevin Federline (Britney Spears' husband) and Kellie Pickler ("American Idol" Season 5 finalist) all have albums coming out today. No fooling. How scary is that?

MOST POPULAR

Flavor Flav, "Flavor Flav"

Before this CD: Member of seminal hip-hop group Public Enemy, who has since had troubles with drugs and the law.

The jackpot: The puzzling string of successes he's had on VH1, first with "The Surreal Life," and most recently with his own "Flavor of Love" series — the highest rated show on the network.

Sample lyric: "Say unga bunga bunga' G!/ Say unga bunga binga bunga!"

Track to save (possibly): "Hot 1." Though the rapper's attempts on "Flavor Flav" at being a Ray Parker Jr.-like singer are so comical they're almost likable ("Let It Show," "Two Wrongz"), this tune recalls his more amenable P.E. days.

CD review in 5 words or less: "Nooooooo boyyyyyyeeeeeee!"

Kevin Federline, "Playing with Fire"

Before this CD: Back-up dancer for recording artists such as Justin Timberlake and Pink.

The jackpot: Marrying superstar Britney Spears. Now the, ahem, rapper, boasts on his CD that he's the $50 million man.

Sample lyric: "Kevin Federline/I come tight with every rhyme/I built a kingdom down the street from Pepperdine."

Track to save (possibly): "Crazy" — Only because it could be interesting to see the video, considering his wife sings the hook: "And they say/I'm crazy for loving you/ for feeling you /And maybe/I'm a little crazy..."

CD review in 5 words or less: $50 million can't buy talent.

Kellie Pickler, "Small Town Girl"

Before this CD: She was an unknown singer from Albemarle, N.C. ... That qualify?

The jackpot: Being a finalist on "American Idol" Season 5.

Sample lyric: "I'd rather ride in a Chevy truck than a Ferrari/Give me a cheeseburger/I ain't eating no calamari."

Track to save (possibly): Actually, there are quite a few, including the smartly written "Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind."

CD review in 5 words or less: Waaay better than the others.
