Flashback Festival

Bust out the bell bottoms. Urban oldies station Kiss 104.1 hosts the Flashback Festival. Funk, R&B and soul bands from yesterday share the stage. Disco dudes Brick, the all-female Klymaxx, the smooth soul of Lakeside, former Temptation Dennis Edwards and R&B maven Cherelle make up the bill.

Spin-dancers unite! Jam band deluxe Gov't Mule, fronted by Allman Brothers Band alumnus Warren Haynes, provides the soundtrack as wafting patchouli takes over the Masquerade Music Park. Gnarls Barkley

R&B duo Gnarls Barkley first gained acclaim with its platinum-selling debut and No. 1 single "Crazy." The band, fronted by Atlantan Cee-Lo, might not have had the same level of success since, but the energy it brings to performances it worth the price of admission. Antwan “Big Boi” Patton discovery Janelle Monae opens.

THE 411: $25. 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11. Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave., Atlanta. 404-249-6400, www.ticketmaster.com.

Jack Johnson

In support of his latest disc "Sleep Through the Static," the string-plucking singer-songwriter and surf-tinged folkie makes no apologies for his tree-hugging nature. Johnson encourages carpooling, and his Web site helps connect fans with rides to shows. Don't miss visiting the village green before the show and grab information on both local and global environmental activities.

Nine Inch Nails

Atlanta band Deerhunter opens.

The Silver Beats

The band's fans include the Killers and even Sir Paul himself. With Prabir and the Substitutes.
