Some leading gospel music stars will bring harmonious notes to Atlanta’s City Hall today.
Dorothy Norwoood, Dottie Peoples, the Gospel Music Workshop of America Ensemble and others will gather at noon in the South Atrium of City Hall. There will be some music, followed at 1 p.m. with a proclamation by the Atlanta City Council of Gospel Music Heritage Month.
Atlanta has been one of the centers of gospel music in American, with singers such as Norwood, who was born here. It is also home of the Gospel Music Channel, a cable TV enterprise started and operated by Charlie Humbard, son of famous TV evangelist Rex Humbard, and Brad Siegel, a former Turner executive.
