Rihanna has decided to put some distance between herself and Chris Brown, according to People magazine, six weeks after an alleged beating by Brown that occurred after a pre-Grammys party in Los Angeles.

People reports that the ‘Umbrella’ singer spent time in New York earlier this week, having business meetings with her manager and spending time with Beyonce, Jay-Z and Brandy. But Rihanna has not seen Brown since her return to Los Angeles on Wednesday, according to the San Jose Mercury-News. The same report cautions not to call it a ‘breakup’ however.

The couple had attempted a reconciliation soon after the incident, a decision that prompted criticism from no less than Oprah Winfrey, who addressed the couple on her show, and later dedicated an episode to dating violence.
